I have been taking Trulicty for a while now and I swear it works great, EXCEPT I hate the side effects. But I will put up with them because it is saving my life. My blood sugars are about 100 or less. My A1C last time was 6.0 percent. I am losing weight slowly.

Fantastic video, both content and production quality. Just started Trulicity yesterday, and it appears to have really stabilized the rate of change of sugars (much less roller coaster effect). Keep up the good work!

I had been on Trulicity for 4 years before an insurance change made it unaffordable. I had great control using Trulicity and Farxiga. I am now on Lantus and will be adding Trulicity back next month. Other than a depressed appetite I had no problems with Trulicity.

So helpful. I was just prescribed Trulicity injection by my doctor I didn't know how to use it. I didn't asked my doctor question because I thought this is the same way as insulin. I was wrong. But thanks God I get your information. That was easy and fun. Thanks again. I gave a thumb up and you have a new subscriber.

I've just started on Trulicity again after three months, it's really hard to get at the moment. I found that eating less reduces the nausea, I think it's because food stays in the stomach longer. It has a positive effect on my food bill. I shop just a little less often. Though I find it difficult to finish a loaf of bread, I only get half way through before it goes mouldy. I have to freeze half of the loaf when I bring it home. Also when I stopped while it was unavailable my weight went up really fast and I was tired all of the time, no energy at all. There is no way I could stay on my feet for nearly eight hours like I did today. My blood sugar was nearly 16 yesterday before I injected, it's dropped to 10 today and still falling. It would be nice to see the green light on my meter again. Now, I hope I start losing weight again as fast as I did before and keep losing it. I lost about 15kg while on it last time.

I know this video is 2 years old. Trulicity is higher dosage now. My Dr. Start low and now am on 4ml. When the dr. Moved my to 4 I started with severe side affects. I had really horrible hiccups that I could not stop. I had gas continually. And then on top of it I’m not sure what body part if it was intestines or something else where they literally rolled and flipped the doctor that prescribed it is on vacation but the one that took her place tell me to stop taking it until she gets in contact with me when she gets back. Also, pens can be faulty when I was on the 1.5 mill the whole month of pins did not work one week it actually sliced about 1/4 inch of my skin.

Thank you! When my doctor prescribed Trulicity to me, I asked if I should let it warm up before injection. She said she didn't know, and to ask my pharmacist. My brother had to pick it up, and did not ask this. I have seen a different doctor since then, and she also said she did not know, and ask my pharmacist. Because I did not know whether to let it warm up , I have been taking it out and letting it warm up while I take a shower. I guess I should continue this, but I will be asking my pharmacist anyway.

I am searching for someone who is going through this. I am about to switch to Trulicity from Ozempic because of insurance. I had to adjust to Ozempic but since then it has worked so well. All my bloodwork has been fantastic and I feel great. I am just worried switching will make me go through the adjustment or new side effects again and lose all the progress I had made. Ozempic was working and did what it was supposed to do. Lower my A1C, drop my glucose levels, I'm off 5 other meds too. Some weight loss as well but not the biggest deal. I hate the fact that I have to rely on some insurance company to just mess with my hormones in the space of 30 days and not my own doctor because I can't afford to go from a co-pay to $1100 a month.

Did you make any changes to your diet? Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary issue. Try lowering your carb intake. I keep mines to around 30 carbs a day and my A1C fell from 11 to 6.3. Diabetes is just too many carbs for your body to process resulting in too much sugar in your blood. Current treatment of diabetes focuses on the symptoms (high blood sugar) and not the cause (large number of carbs). Best of luck to you managing your diabetes. Check out "Beat Diabetes!" video on KZbin.

Hi Doctor, First of all, absolutely loved this video. I live in Australia and I was started on the 1.5mg/0.5ml Trulicity about 6 weeks ago in conjunction with Januvia, Jardiance and Rosuvastatin. From what I gather, I am among the unfortunate few that get to experience the seemingly brutal side effects of Trulicity and yes, I have lost weight as well. I am trying to soldier on as I think the severity and frequency of these side effects are decreasing although quite slowly. I also am trying to standardize my diet as I personally find the side effects worsen with carb rich and sometimes fatty and spicy food. So basically this drug is forcing me to start eating what a diabetic should be eating anyway since I have no real will power to do it otherwise. Like strong patches do to a chain smoker trying to quit. But this is also causing constant tiredness, lethargy and admittedly some strong mood swings. It is affecting my work and thinking straight for any extended period has become difficult. From your experience with your patients so far, how much longer (roughly) may it take for the body to get used to Trulicity and I can get on with life as "normal"? Thanks in advance.

Are things any better?
@Mitrababu80
@Mitrababu80 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikeinfinity2005 Yes, I daresay it is. With my diet standardized, I now get sick (bloating, some nausea, etc) only during what I guess is the weekly peak of the Trulicity action (3rd and 4th) days. This has been the pattern for the last 3 weeks or so. Any slip ups in the eating department, the drug promptly puts me in place withing an hours or so! So, yes it is much better but I will hardly call it normal. But then again, as a diabetic of many years I guess "normal" is very subjective.

Anyway....I gave myself that shot and YOWZA! it burned and left a nice lump and bruise. Late last night I started to get a little nauseous but nothing a few saltines couldn’t take care of. Thank you for the fabulous video. It really helped my first time. THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced after your first dose of Trulicity, but I'm relieved to know that you found the video helpful in navigating through it. Transitioning from Metformin after 18 years can indeed be a significant change, especially when considering your health concerns. Experiencing burning, lumps, and bruises after injection isn't uncommon with Trulicity, as it's a side effect reported by many users. However, it's essential to monitor these symptoms closely and communicate them to your doctor. Nausea, too, can be a side effect, but I'm glad it didn't escalate for you. Remember, your health journey is unique, and adjustments might be needed along the way. It's fantastic that you're proactive about managing your health and seeking out resources like this video. I was started on the 0.75 dose after 4 weeks there was no real effect (in conjunction with Metformin and Januvia). My provider increased to the 1.5 dose. I did see a slight change in my daily glucose numbers. The injections were very simple with the device. I tended to have more of a startle reflex when pushing the activation button (compare to opening a can of refrigerated biscuits) then pain. After two weeks on the dose and midway through third week severe side effects hit (vomiting, diarrhea). My provider and I couldn't rule out food poisoning (recent travel questionable restaurant) so we tried the 4th dose after those effects wore off. This dose took "severe" side effects to the next level. I don't say this to scare anyone. My take-away is my provider and I probably could have gone a few more weeks at the low dose which may have started to show improvement as well start showing side effects at lessened intensity. For me this was not the GLP of choice. (As a side note we did rule out pancreatitis the vomiting and diarrhea brought some abdominal pain...with the use of Januvia needed to check-negative.) Hope this is helpful. New to your videos but they very informational! Thank you.

PA David love your videos. One question? Any studies on using combination of SGLT@ and Glp1 at the same time?? It seems that gaining the advantages of both therapies would help both A1C and morning fasting
@sugarhighchannel
@sugarhighchannel 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not aware of any studies that were designed specifically to evaluate using both in combination. There are plenty of studies that tested one of these medications and allowed participants to take medications from the other category. But it wasn’t the primary objective of the study. That being said, I use them in combination in my own practice all the time and have generally had a lot of success.

Hi thank you so much for these educational videos. I do have a question. My doctor wanted me to use Ozempic but at the moment I do not have insurance so trulicity has become available to me and I can afford it. But I really want to use the ozempic, would there be an issue switching from trulicity to ozempic when I get my insurance back?

Awesome review, David. Do you think the nausea you mentioned at 14:06 for the high dose of Victoza is what causes the side effect of weight loss? All this stuff is so interesting. Thank you for teaching me!
@sugarhighchannel
@sugarhighchannel 4 жыл бұрын
Nausea can definitely be part of it. But even outside of nausea, these meds decrease appetite in general, prompting people to eat less. It went kinda quick in the video because I was trying hard not to spend too much time on statistics and data, but you might have noticed at 15:21 that Victoza has one of the highest amounts of decreased appetite amongst all of these meds.

Sugar High yes! I did hear that. That’s why I was wondering, is the nausea the cause? I was listening to your video in a loud car so I couldn’t hear :/ Also- are the weightloss effects for victoza long lasting or do you gain the weight back once you get off it? Thanks again for the information.

@Michael Carney orrr do both so that you are able to control your blood sugar, while you also work to resolve the actual disease with diet and exercise.

After stopping Victoza or Trulicity, the med will eventually work it’s way out of the system and the appetite suppression will fade. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the weight has to come back on, though. Maintaining the same diet and lifestyle would allow someone to keep the weight off, but they wouldn’t have the appetite suppression there to make it easier.

Hi. I love your videos. I used Bydureon with Metformin. I could not get under and A1C of 7 mostly cause of my diet, but Bydureon along with walking, got me down to 5.2. WOW. And of course, now they have discontinued it. I had NO side effects while taking it. What in your opinion would be me a replacement with the same kind o weekly dose medication??? Im not that familiar with the history of these other pens. Why do they get rid of the things that work?? Claims it was a business decision???

I love this my ins would not cover ozempic so I wasn't sure how good trulicity would be, side effects were not bad and I lost 5 lbs also brought down my a1c. The only thing is wake up before using it. I accidently left the cap on the bottom once and the medication went all over. Super easy to use and if you let it warm up and make sure if you use alcohol it is dry first to avoid sting, you don't even feel it go in.

Very helpful. I just started my first dose . I have been using lantus for two years and have CKD. Dr what is your opinion about metformin and kidney disease?
@Inevid
@Inevid 3 ай бұрын
I'm glad you found the video helpful as you embark on your journey with Trulicity, especially considering your experience with Lantus and your kidney health concerns. Metformin and its usage in individuals with kidney disease is a topic that requires careful consideration and consultation with a healthcare provider. While Metformin is generally considered safe for most people with diabetes, its use in those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requires close monitoring. In your situation, where you already have CKD, it's crucial to discuss the potential risks and benefits of continuing Metformin with your doctor. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific medical history and current condition. Depending on the stage of your kidney disease, they may recommend adjustments to your treatment plan or alternative medications that are safer for your kidneys. Remember, your healthcare team is there to support you in making the best decisions for your health. Don't hesitate to reach out to them with any questions or concerns you may have about your medications and their impact on your kidney health. Wishing you all the best on your health journey.

I get a small red itchy spot at injection site (quarter size) like a hive. It comes up at day after injection and the progression with itching lasts another 24 hours. Thereafter, the reddening stays but no long itches. Redness resolves by the time I need another. I think this is called a mild allergy side effect, but it is annoying and my doctor says I need to stop. She prescribed Ozempic but Medicare does not cover that down to affordability. Do you have experience with people who get this sensitivity reaction and do they continue on Trulicity without increase in allergy? I have tried using Benadryl with it and did not affect it.
