My only suggestion would be not to set a goal weight. Definitely aim for an Excellent A1C but let the weight loss be a fantastic side effect of getting your A1C under control. My plan was to try and lose 50 pounds, now 3 years later I am sitting at 205 pounds and I never thought that was possible. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck Colleen

I am 63 years old and have been on Ozempic for 6 months and it has changed my life! I have lost 56 lbs and my eating habits have changed considerably. I have cut out all sweet things ( sugar, chocolate etc,) and check all foods for sugar content before I eat. The gym bores me, so I walk everyday - to the shops or the shopping centre and use the stairs instead of lifts ( elevators) . I have an exercise bicycle in my room and watch films when I'm on it. I was amazed at the weight loss ( I've had to change my clothes size from 3XL to L ) and feel much better, both physically and mentally. I did suffer some side effects ( flatulence / nausea ) initially, but they only occur if I succumb to the odd 'treat' . I would have no hesitation in recommending OZEMPIC in combatting Diabetes Type 2.

I have been taking .25 mg doze for over two years. Loss of appetite, nausea, and diarrhea were side effects. It did bring my A1c by 1 point. But now after 2 year use it has gone up. If you are going to take it, make sure you walk everyday. Cost is prohibitively high. With insurance it is $240 per month. If you don't have insurance it is close to $1,000 per month. From what I here, both Canada and Mexico, cost is much lower.

My problem was I was eating way to many carbs/sugers. Like 1-2 cokes per week, had potatoes at dinner with meat and veggie, ate bread if I had lunch with chips. I told my Dr I had no intention of taking Mounjaro again. So she suggested Ozempic. I managed my diabetes with diet, prior to taking any injections, to get my A1C down from 14 to 9.6. Mounjaro and my diet got me from 9.6 to 5.8. Today, with no injections, my daily spikes are what concern me. I’m hoping Ozempic will be the answer to keep those from happening. I was switched to Trulicity which did nothing and I've begun to regain. I suggest that you give Ozempic a try, or use another SEMAGLUTIDE product, like Rybelsus. They don't cover the lowest dose BUT THEY DO COVER the higher dose! So I called my Dr's office and told the (shocked) receptionist what I found and got an appt to be seen. I will be getting my Ozempic later this month (August 22/2022) I say all this to tell you to NEVER take your Dr's word. Do your own homework & take your health in your own hands! I did.

I am late to the party apparently! This video was amazingly informative. I started Ozempic about a month and a half ago. Zero side effects! (Hope I didn’t just jinx myself!). I’ve lost about 8 pounds so far and my typical reading has gone from between 12 & 13 to about 7 to 8. My morning readings were around 10 but now they are between 7 and 8 also. I haven’t yet reached the 1 MG dose yet so I am assuming it will help even more! I’m in Canada and I do not have to pay for mine. When my doctor prescribed it for me, it had to go through an approval process with Manitoba Health called EDS (Exception Drug Status). Thank you so much for providing this very informative video. I’ve subscribed!

thank you for explaining about this medication. I read the directions in the box and it is long and I was confused. I had been on Trulicity which was easy to use. I had expected Ozempic to be the same. I gave myself the first injection and felt nothing I could not tell if I had even received any of the medication. On calling the doctors office I was told to follow the directions and listen for the click. No one had showed me or told me how to use this pen. I heard no click. Your demo was great thanks. I feel confident I did it correctly even though I heard no click. I think when you are given this medication for the first time they should have a site to go to and learn how it works. Thanks so much

Hi! Clunical Pharmacist here and also a patient who uses Ozempic myself. Please be aware that the pen must be primed each time a patient opens a new box, and needles must be discarded in a sharps/hazard container. That aside, after 3 years of struggling with Diabetes, this is the first medication that worked for me. I recommend it highly for those who are candidates and can tolerate it!

Hello, I'm 32 years old and I took Ozempic, not knowing I had a stomach ulcer. I was so sick for a year. I had horrible sulphur burps like hiccups for a YEAR. I thew up everything I ate and the cramps were unbearable. My doctor couldn't figure out if it was Ozempic making me so sick or if I had H.Pylori. I eventually stopped taking Ozempic and finally figured out that i had an Ulcer. I started medications for that and now that the ulcer is fully healed, I'm starting Ozempic all over again. So far, the symptoms aren't as bad as they were the first time around and i'm feeling hopeful. :)

I started taking Ozempic two months ago. First month on a .25 I had no side effects and no noticeable effect on my glucose or appetite. The second month on 0.5 was great. Then I moved up to the 1 milligram and it was awful. It wasn’t so much nausea, I had terrible cramps and diarrhea and I simply could not eat at all, I had no appetite, I would force myself to have one slice of toast a day and I was feeling so weak I could hardly function. I was told by a diabetes nurse that rather than go back to 0.5, I should take 1 mg pen but not turn the cap all the way to the full dose, but to count the clicks, there are 75 clicks from 0 to 1 mg, and to count about 50 clicks and see how that goes. That’s about 2/3 of a dose. If that works out OK, to increase my dose each week by five clicks until I reach the full amount. It’s been working brilliantly, I have already lost 5 kg in the last month and my glucose levels are at normal level. And I have no nausea or other stomach issues. I can’t wait to see what my HA1c is at my next blood test.

I bought Ozempic from Shopper’s Drug Mart in Canada two weeks ago for $284 for a months supply. The price has come down but it still is out of reach for those without private insurance. Thankfully, my company insurance covers the full amount. I noticed that the only time I had gastrointestinal issues (really bad diarrhea) was last night when I ate an unhealthy snack. I’ve been on keto and one meal a day (OMAD) for the last few months so my body wasn’t use to eating crap and I have been losing weight before I started Ozempic. Funny thing is I didn’t even enjoy that snack. Will continue my keto diet with OMAD and exercise while taking Ozempic to lower my blood sugar. Also, I take Ozempic every Friday after work when I am at home to avoid any side effects at work (who wants to get diarrhea at work?). Plus I’ll have Saturday and Sunday to recover.

I am not diabetic, but my doctor started me on ozempic as a weight loss medication. I have tried so many things to lose weight. Despite active efforts to lose weight I have slowly gained weight over the last several years. I was referred to the bariatric clinic due to my BMI (such an outdated measure, but still). I am on the lowest dose of .25mg and have been for about 4-5 months. I have successfully lost 20 lbs doing the exact same things that I have been doing. I have never successfully lost more than about 5 lbs on any diet or exercise plan in the past. There were some side effects at the beginning (I also have gastroparesis, so that doesn't help), but they have subsided to nothing more the my normal level of digestive issues. I am thankful that my insurance covers this medication with a manageable copay.

Hi Keisha, I realise it has been 11 months since you posted your comment. I hope you are still doing well. Reading your comment I had to ask if there was any reason you didn't increase the dose to .5mg after 4 weeks on .25mg? I only found out today that even though I had 2 needles left in my box there are only 4 doses because of the increase. If I had done the maths I would have worked it out. It took ringing my chemist today thinking there was a problem with the pen, to be told about the 4 doses. It is so frustrating as I was talking to my pharmacist about my 10kg weight loss on Ozempic, I asked her what was my starting date, I said I was on my 2nd pen, she asked if I needed my next pen & I said no as I still had 2 doses left. I am not angry as they go above & beyond to help me in any way they can, it was just one of those learning experiences & I can excuse myself as I haven't been thinking straight due to being very anxious about an upcoming operation & even though I love how the weight is coming off, for me it is coming off too quickly, I am very scared about an upcoming operation which I have to lose weight for, so the sooner I get to the target the sooner the operation which is only 3kg away.

A few things, I never went up to the .5 dose because I didn't need to. I was losing on the lower dose. It has been a over a year since I started and have lost 50 lbs. I had noticed a plateauing and was going to ask my doctor about adjusting the dose. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen as now my insurance will no longer cover it. Ozempic is not approved as a weight loss med in the US. Many insurance companies are starting to not cover it for anyone who isn't diabetic.

Since I was coming to Ozempic because the side affects from Mounjaro were debilitating. On it first the body aches for so severe. Once the dose was in the next two days was hell. I couldn't move it was flu like body aches times 100. I continued using the dose monthly as prescribed. My body never got use to it. I was told to take the shot with a full stomach etc. I had to advocate for myself and say look it's been 4 months and 3 out of 7 days I'm laid up. Finally, my doctor switched me to ozempic. Today there are no side effects and can go about my days without pain. That brings the question: What was in the mounjaro that's not in ozempic? Lastly, why is my stomach talking to others in the room. It's so loud, does an antacid work? Thanks again Ellen

I did have diarrhea, but it's hard to tell if it's normal or part of the side effects. On the starter dose I've already lost my appetite and bought some Slimfast Protein shakes to use instead of a meal. The only thing so far is that, some burping, and increased acid. I've had to take more Tums than normal. I really hesitate to up the dose. I don't think I would go past the .5. My doctor had me continue taking Metformin, and my A1C was only 7.5 before I started. I’ve been on Ozempic for 6 weeks now. My only side effect has been constipation. But once I started taking the Metformin that my dr also prescribed, the side effects of both meds really leveled each other out. My numbers have dropped from mid 200s to low 100s and in combination with a lower-carb diet and increased activity, I’ve lost 20 pounds.

My Ins approved. Just picked up today. Will make Sunday my injection day. I'm also taking diabetes med in a pill form. Segluromet 7.5/1,000 twice a day with Glimepiride 2 mg. My endocrinologist wanted me off the Glimepiride as it causes you to gain weight. My PCP put me on it. Well anyway, wish me luck. Ill check back in a couple weeks.

I'm not a diabetic but my doctor put me on Ozempic as an appetite suppressant. This was still very helpful.

What dose are you on and do u have any side effects
@patriciaduggan41024 ай бұрын
What dosage of Ozempic are you taking. Do you have frequent urination problems. I am already on Ozempic for 10 weeks and still frequently urinating and my blood sugars are 13, even though I stopped snacking and eat 2 small meals a day. I am wondering if my dosage is too small. Any help you can share with me would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm 81 and a type 2 diabete I have been taking Actos for 31 years. I started Ozempic 6 months ago my account is down to 5.8. I have bad diarrhea on the average of 1 day a week but my blood sugar is in complete control. My weight loss has been 8 lbs but I was not over weight when I started Ozempic

Your presentation was worthwhile, Thank you. Clear and concise. The literature, my endo, the diabetes educator all mentioned diarrhea and vomiting. HOWEVER no one talked about the severity of diarrhea and vomiting or how to manage food intake to decrease the risk of these horrible episodes. I have found it is important to pay attention when I start feeling full. Sometimes that can be after three bites. At that point stop eating until the full feeling passes & eat a little more or stop eating until later. There have been times my blood sugar was low, in the 60's, and I felt if I ate I would vomit. I was able to take 4-6 glucose tablets to bring the glucose level up. Have also found Healthy Choice meals are just about the right quantity of food for me for one meal. I can't quite finish the meal, so leave it and finish about an hour later. I have lost 35 pounds in 6 weeks and plan to continue with Ozempic hoping things get easier,

As much as I hate Lantus, these side effects make me want to avoid them. I get nasty gastrointestinal effects from metformin so unfortunately I can’t take that.

Ozempic has changed my life. I have been on it since April 2022 and have lost almost 50lb with some commitment and healthy choice. I feel 100% better. It's so easy compared to other diabetes medications. I have very few and mild side effects such as mild dull headache the day of my injection and constipation which is easily dealt with. I could not be happier!!!

I am 63 & have been on Ozempic for 2 months for weight loss for upcoming brain surgery & I am diabetic, my food intake hasn't changed much but the weight is falling off me, as of today at my dr's appointment I have officially lost 10kgs. I am very fortunate that it only costs me $6.70 per pen in Australia. I have had no side effects. The only issue really is I don't have any clothes that fit, I didn't realise how big everything I had looked on me until I saw a photo of me wearing my comfy leggings which were baggy & looked awful, I am personally blown away by how much weight has just dropped off & I also have Hashimoto's Disease, my thyroid doesn't work at all. I also don't crave chocolate anymore which I am very pleased about.

@alicecain4851 - So very nice of you to say, but no it didn't go well, I have what is called "an acquired brain injury" - neurological problems. It turned a year since the op on the 18th September, my room # was 18, I was taken back to the theatre on the 18th October & the previous surgery was on the 18th Jan 2019. I think you can see why I'm a little paranoid of # 18. Thank you again for your comment.

I’ve been on ozempic for 2 months and the worst side effects is the nausea but that makes me eat less and have lost weight. So it’s a win in my opinion

Im super scared of those GI side effects. After having pregnancies with hyperemesis during practically the whole 9 months, I can't muster the courage to volunteer to possibly throw up again. More power to you, for enduring the side effects. Hope it helps you to reach your health goals. :)

I am aware this is an older video. But, I must comment because it was this video that made me take the plunge. Having been obese since I was a young child and a T2D for over 25 years, ozempic has done for me what no eating plan could ever do…. It forced me not to eat. No willpower involved. Ozempic made me feel full without eating and made me nauseous if I attempted to eat. I don’t know if it’s a gastric sleeve in an injectable or force IF. In summary, it works!!!

The Doc started me on that Feb 7 I have been so sick. I had loose stools for 3 days, then constipation. I was dizzy and very nauseous, to the point of having to take nausea meds usually used for vertigo. My eyesight got worse. I had headaches and joint pain. I became swollen in my stomach and belly area, and gained 5 lbs. I broke out on my face. My glucose went dangerously high twice, 355 and 399, though it had been paired with trujeo. Tried for a month. See the Doc on Mar 7. Cannot stand the pain and nausea! I have been Diabetic for 25 yrs. Also had the constant burping.
