Fat Mike is EASILY one of the most underrated bassists of all time. His bass lines are creative, challenging and melodic. He might not be as fast as Matt Freeman, but he's equally talented.
@michelegrassi4385 Жыл бұрын
Yes, i think that Matt Freeman is better on technique and solos but if we think that Fat Mike is also the singer of the band, man, he' s too good !

well, I'd say Mike is (way) more talented as a songwriter. Let's not forget Mike writes all nofx songs on their entirely. Not only bass lines, but lyrics, guitar riffs, melodies, harmonies, the whole thing. Matt contributes mostly with the bass lines probably (not taking anything away from Matt, obviously... the dude's amazing), since Lint is the main songwriter in Rancid. To each their own, I guess.
@joaniepeters256511 ай бұрын
As a bass player this dude is one of my all time favorite bassists. His understanding of melody and chordal harmony is very impressive especially how heavily he uses both in this style of music . And he is amazingly proficient with pick playing, not to mention his song writing ability. People in general, especially bass players, just don’t understand how musically capable and complex Fat Mike is. He plays his role as a bass player perfectly within the songs he writes, that’s natural talent. Listening to this band most musicians never think the bass player is the writer of these songs and singer

Kiddo, you are sick good. Subbed and will consider supporting after I watch more. This is just a question from an older bass player. It is obvious you can play with or without a pick just from your skill level, so, do you choose the pick because of the sound of the attack of it or because of the punk/ska music? Or both? Or something else? Regardless you are very impressive and major props from an older jazz guy. Loved it.
