It might not actually be Death here in Mexico (have a couple deities for that already) but I think they nailed what she is meant to *represent* as Death Since Death is not exactly feared and actually celebrated here with Día de Muertos, I think they did good making her look approachable, kind, *motherly*, because in our culture Death is not the end, is just another step of our existance Plus she IS pretty so bonus points jsjs

@@SuperDiamondFireOfficial In the movie, she's not the embodiment of death but the part full of life of the afterlife which she could be the "In death there is also full of life" thing, Xibalba is what can also be the one that represents the suffering and the fearful vision of death but the rotten side of it and they both rule different sides of the afterlife which The Catrina rules La isla de los recordados and Xibalba rules La isla de los olvidados. Also in the Maya and the three series there was already a person, actual goddess, that is the embodiment of death and it's the biological mother of the protagonist, Maya.

Man, I remember watching this movie as a teenager (when I used to watch it all the time as a kid), and WOW this movie did such a fantastic job at showing how toxic masculinity harms everyone. Such a fun movie, truly a classic. Xibalba gives me ridiculous amounts of gender envy.
