@@viktorialetstalk I enjoy quite a few groups. I prefer groups with great vocals since most of the listening is done in my car during my commute. I tend to like groups like Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Aespa for their real vocal talent. They set the standards high for me to really start stanning others. I’m sure there will be, but I haven’t come across one yet.

55:20 It's fine, Red Velvet has many concepts, some of them are with weird songs and/or MV's. Not bad, but different songs, like Zimzalabim, Red Flavor, RBB and many others. (I hate Red Flavor MV, but the song is fine) If someone dislike a specific red velvet song, i will totally understand and say, try another one, it could be a a totally new experience. I Like Psycho, but Birthday i skip almost all the time it comes up in my playlist. I could say that i don't like/dislike Aespa, cuz i actually don't listen to any of their title tracks. But i have some of their B-sides in my playlist, more 'calm/light' songs. It's not 'hate', cuz Black Mamba and Savage i have listened many times, but just got tired of listen to it. That not happen with Dreamcatcher songs for example, that i keep listening for years, it's just my taste for songs.

The reason for the "Good Night" cover by Rolling Quartz is mostly because they're all fans of the group - Yeongeun (drummer) taught Handong how to play the drums, Arem (bassist) has done unboxing videos for her Dreamcatcher merch, and they've all said the group they'd like most to collab with is Dreamcatcher. This was them mostly just trying to show their love for the group. No worries that you aren't fond of it, thank you for checking them out! :)

if you are interested they have a recording behind for redvelvet birthday where they show the process of how the song was recorded it is on there youtube and i have seen reactors react to it incase you wana react to it and redvelvet are weird its like you don't know what you get the next comeback till you listen to it.

Red Velvet is a great group with a very diverse and distinctive discography, Green for sure. Peek A Boo is a fun M.V…. In a dark, weird, creepy kind of way. 😉 Love Rolling Quartz, but I come from a generation that had to actually play instruments to make music so I may have a bit of a bias. Also have to agree with you, the vocals in Good Night just don’t seem right to me, but to be fair, Dreamcatcher is a hard act to follow.

Rolling Quartz seemingly tried to put the entire Nightmare Series into one MV when they covered DC's Good Night. Remember, a single vocalist would have a LOT of trouble covering seven vocalists on one song. I think she did a great job because she also had to rap, even though she is not as much a Rapper as she is a Vocalist. The Drummer of RQ is also the drum teacher for Han Dong when Dongie decided to learn to play an instrument. I thought that was COOL when I found out! And RQ's drummer is also the maknae of the group! lol

Jayoung (Vocalist) has a normal speaking voice, it's just that she knows how to bring a raspy side and sometimes a growl. I think she has one of the best Rock voices I've ever heard. Youngeun in Drums just blew me away with ther triplets and the use of 2 Bass Drums (Bare Feet!) is just so fun to hear. I could go on all day about them..lol If you like a more Melodic Song-Azelea is a must..You might have some fun with their cover with Alexa-Pink Venom..

Jayoung's vocal in speaking actually like "standard" female voice. well if you think it's too much in Rolling Quartz song, actually it's still minimum compared to let's say Rosé in Blackpink. she actually not that high but always use that high pitch. actually Dami in dreamcatcher too, despite she really has deep voice, she doesn't really have that deep let's say rap part in BOCA. for another songs from Rolling Quartz, maybe I can spoil a bit description.. DELIGHT, their actual first song (written by them) despite Blaze is the official debut song. a bit of 'round' sound before the guitar breakdown. no guitar solo as in Good Night and Blaze, but as I said it's more into breakdown style. the song actually they're showing that they felt delightful to meet each other (they were 2 different groups before, Rolling Girls and Rose Quartz) and the song can be used as delightful to meet diadem (their fanbase) AZALEA, actually song based on a poem. the poem actually have double meaning and RQ take the love related point of view. the song actually a remake from singer named Maya, who took the war point of view. this RQ song have longer ballad part in the beginning. HOLLER, their song and the MV has "story" of vampire. maybe a bit sexualized for a little camera focus view but it's still fine imo. less distorted guitar sound, even Hyunjung only doing simple chords outside breakdown part. NAZABABARA, their most poppish and playful song. least faved song mostly, but I think it maybe fine for you. SING YOUR HEART OUT, playful but still in the rock side. their longest song actually. different structure compared to others. there are also ROCK AND ROLL PARADISE and other songs but not have MV (or I haven't checked it yet). they also have covers, My Chemical Romance's Helena, BTS' dynamite, Paramore's misery business, and cover collab with Alexa: Xtra (actually Alexa's song) and Pink Drop (Blackpink's Pink Venom and BTS' Mic Drop mashup)

@@viktorialetstalk well it actually short story (for Holler) in MV, but the lyrics match a bit with MV. like everyone getting each role as stated in credits scene. btw for "camera focus view" that I said, channel named Differently Alike also got hyped for it despite they're both female. they did second watch but still paused that scene, rewind a bit to watch it again. and surprisingly Hyunjung commented there. for very conservative people that scene seems sexualized but well.. we also have the same thing in dreamcatcher Maison. even we can say "the whole video" for artists who specifically have that specification like Jessi for example

I just spotted that they used properties and scenes like from dreamcatcher, table like deja vu, camera as in good night, and the statue as in boca. I tried to overthink a bit and I think I know what point of view that is, but still not sure and seems better to not say it specifically

Regarding aespa: The older generation likes the fast pace also not only the younger ones.😉What I don't like is a video style where the video is cut very often (every second) causing some Stroboscope effect (example: Blackpink "Pink Venom"....the song is ok but I don't like the MV because of the effects). In general I like the experimental stuff SM Entertainment does and yes they throw a lot of money into the production. When I watched it for the first time the most interesting detail was actual the camera movement because they use a robotic arm which follows the programmed path (good for repeating stuff in 100% the same way) and it moves really fast. They also use this very expensive piece of hardware all the time (creating some interesting effects) while other groups have a person moving the camera. I think there is also a MV where this thing is actually shown multiple times. Rolling Quartz: Well, what can I say...one word: Fantastic! I think most Insomnia's are waiting for a collaboration with Dreamcatcher. Alexa now did it two times with RQ (a rock version of Alexa's "Xtra" song plus this great mashup called "PINK DROP = Pink Venom x MIC Drop" released only a few weeks ago). As for RQ they know the DC members and several members of RQ are fans of DC (Yeongeun..the drummer has at least one signed DC album and there is a rumor that she did teach Handong). Below the RQ "Good Night" cover song you'll also find some additional details (basically the reason why RQ was allowed to put this song on their official album...which is normally not possible). It would be so great to have them perform together...well they need some space to put all the members but beside that what takes DCC so long to set something up.🙄 Red Velvet: What is there to say. Again SM Entertainment, they have a lot of talented people and "they experiment a lot". Yes, you can also call it crazy. 😂 Last year and also this year they put members from different groups to perform a song together. They also formed the super group "Girls on top" (GOT) and the results are fantastic...if you like the "experiments" ("Stamp On It",... from the latest album). I think it's great that they try all this different stuff. For aespa Mr. Lee Soo Man was responsible for the videos but I have no idea who was in charge for Red Velvet...most likely also him (he is the founder of SM and now round about 70 years old). The last stuff I read was that he more or less was kicked out of the company...some contract was not renewed or SME didn't want to renew it (well Mr. Lee Soo Man is still the biggest shareholder). Then also HYBE tried to buy SME ("hostile takeover" attempt was the headline only a few weeks ago...so there is a lot going on).

I too have mixed feelings about Rolling Quartz's cover of "Good Night". I love both groups, but... It's hard for a "rookie" (ish) group like RQ ro compare to the veteran vocalists in and the impecible studio musicians behind DC.

Jayoung sound is very unique, clear, haunting and always consistent. Live or recorded she sounds exactly the same. Like everyone is saying, listen to their collab with Alexa who has a higher tone voice. Maybe you'll appreciate Jayoung's voice after. In my opinion they would've sounded like a typical group with a typical voice without her. Also she is the lyricist, no original songs without her.

You have made a jump without realizing it. DreamCatcher (especially the members of Minx) counts as Third Generation as a K-Pop group, while Aespa counts as a Fourth Generation group. So what you said really makes sense. BUT also, comparing/ contrasting different companies was also smart.

Aespa It took me quite a while to really appreciate their songs, but once I did, they are so good. A little bit of a bummer that your commentary points were at some very good (Ningning) parts, and unfortunately you didn't rewind before resuming. Rolling Quartz I think we share the same opinion. I also think it's good, but the main vocalist's voice is not my favorite. Not necessarily her technique, but her voice 'color'/tone is just slightly not my style. Still, I do think they are great and a very welcome different flavour. Red Velvet I think we also share the same opinion here. I've seen quite a few RV mv's and I STILL have that feeling that "I'm not sure" 😅. They do change their style between "Red" (lighter / cuter / weirder / eccentric) and "Velvet" (more mature / smooth / more serious, elegant or seductive). I REALLY liked your comment about Willy Wonka 😂. Somehow that's so accurate.
