Like most Marshall-style amps the tone controls don’t do much. I find the preamp extremely hot, encourages you to use your guitar’s volume control. I can’t turn gain up past 3 or 4 without it being too much. The Drive (output section volume) produces a lot of overdrive itself when up past 7. I find the amp works best with a boost or distortion pedal in front, but not just any old thing. Boss DS1 works really well, but RAT just sounds gross. It’s an amp with a lot of personality, not remotely neutral-sounding. It does have headroom but cranks readily, i.e., most of the range of volume and gain is in the area of overdrive.

SOUNDS GREAT !!! Im looking to get a suhr Badger 18 ..... Bit confused as to whether it will work with my 2x12 cab !! Vintage 30 and v-type both 8ohms with it wired in series to 16 onm ... only one input jack .... any thoughts ?

+jay wman it will work...o.k. the Badger has 4 and 8 Ohm outputs but as long as you connect a cab everything is fine

So the power knob is the master volume?
@NStuffMusic9 жыл бұрын
***** This is per Suhr's Website; Power Scaling emulates the tonal response of a high wattage amp on 10, at manageable volumes. Power controls the voltage that feeds the output section and in turn, the wattage. As you lower the voltage of the power section you are reducing the amount of signal it can handle before clipping the output section. To compensate for this we use the "Drive" control so you can easily scale down to 4 watts without losing tone & feel.

Marius hj, the power scaling is not a master. It's a variable wattage control.

How loud can it go clean?
@JayValorMusic8 жыл бұрын
Victor Lee pretty damn loud. For an 18 watt amp youd be mind blown how much clean headroom you can get from it

The same sounds so stiff and unforgiving, sounds difficult to play through, very flat
