I met Rocky George backstage a CBGB's--he was playing some shows with the Cro-mags--I thank him for his music and this album --I was in Alaska with the Air Force--this album got me through that year--he smiled and humbly said "thank you " with a big smile on his face--truly nice man!!

Back in the early 90s, this was my introduction to Suicidal Tendencies, and this song hooked me. I was a senior in high school, I believe, when this video came out... I was never the same. :-) Rocky George is seriously an underrated guitar player - he singlehandedly brought Suicidal Tendencies out of their initial "alternative / skater" style into this sort of musically impressive thrash, he grew the band by leaps and bounds. The album right before and after this one ("How Can I Laugh Tomorrow..." / "The Art of Rebellion") are classics too, though plenty of ST fans were upset with how experimental "Art of Rebellion" was. I loved the chances they took.

I was introduced to ST back in the late 80s, before the skater punks adopted them. When their self-titled album came out, it fucked the heads of LA's underground punk scene inside out! I was more into metal back then, so I thought it was cool, but I found something about it to be a little grating, and intense. When How Will I Laugh Tomorrow came out, my ears perked up immediately, and I was hooked!

As an old school metal head I can remember wearing out a couple "Suicidal Tendencies" and "Join the Army" cassettes (amongst many others) in my walkman (starting to show my age). Suicidal was one of many of my favorite bands growing up; and I am glad to see they (at the time of posting this) are still going strong with their new record; " F.U.B.A.R." A mere requisition (without hopes of starting a hair-splitting slew of debate) would be giving Body Count's homage of "Institutionalized" by Suicidal a spin. Personally I felt that it was a great updated take on a childhood fave. Oh, one more thing; considering you may appear old enough to be my daughter; I did want to beat the dead horse a bit and tell you how refreshing it is to see a gorgeous young lady such as yourself embracing an otherwise uncharted and under-appreciated genre of music. Keep up the great work 🤘

It is fantastic to see a fresh reaction to st these guys are the best at getting your ears to listen. Ahead of everyone and everything going strong since the 80s and still touring now with Dave from slayer. Awesome. I been listening to them since I was a kid I'm 44 now and still listen too almost daily. I'm a skater started 84 and skating to this was the best. Mike is a genius the band are legends. We are family st st st everyone should have sum suicidal in their life. Good on you and I hope you will always now be a fan. Hip-hop heads love em punks love em metal heads love em. Everyone should have sum love for these guys .

I'm in Scotland uk and I think every skater knew of them. I'm a drummer too and played mostly punk and hardcore. Don't really do metal but st can be bit metal but always had a punk core in my opinion. Great times great memories great generation lol

The ethnic diversity of the members of Suicidal, right from the very beginning, is nearly always overlooked and it shouldn't be. Hispanic, African-American and Caucasian band members have all featured prominently in Suicidal down the years. At a time when we seem to be in the grip of the right and racial tensions perhaps at a 70 year high, it's fantastic to see Suicidal Tendencies blazing a trail iro cultural acceptance.

Punks and Rappers are very very similar to each other in terms of personality. Suicidal is considered to be Crossover Thrash which is a term used for hardcore punk bands that started playing Thrash metal when it started to become popular. A lot of punks and rappers from the 90's dress the same because they were all apart of a similar lifestyle.

Suicidal Tendencies!!! About time!!! :-) These were some tuff hombres from southern Cali. From LA. Mean streets. Street smart, too. We loved them out here in the west coast! Everyone loved them (whites, blacks, latinos, Asians, etc) lol Great band. They were like a hardcode punk/thrash/rap rock group. In your face type of music! Rebellious. LOL. MTV was scared to play their stuff back, they got lil air play. lol Hardcore metal/punk (S.T., Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, The Offspring, Rage Against the Machine, Body Count (rapper Ice-T's punk thrash band) , etc) and hardcore rap music (2Pac, NWA, Snoop, CMW (Compton's Most Wanted) , Dre, Ice T, Cypress Hill (They played rock, too) etc) were big here back in the days. Wild crazy bunch lol. All from Cali! They (Suicidal Tendencies) hung out with gangs back in the days, like many in Cali did back then. Mike was a great singer. Rocky George was a bad ass guitarist. My cousin shook his hand once at a concert!! When Rocky still had an afro. Back in '93. LOL Man.... lot of memories!

Mike Muir is the man. His whole look and persona stems from life in the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area to the best of my knowledge. Melting pot of surfers, skaters, West Coast punk scene and chicanos starting back from the mid to late 70s. Mike's brother Jim was part of the famous dogtown / zboys skate team back in the 70s.

That was a great review of one my favorite Suicidal Tendencies songs. I’m going to see them live on the 7th in Boston and seeing this review made me even more pumped up to see them. If you want to review something epic I would suggest you review Fly to the Rainbow by the Scorpions off Tokyo Tapes. I prefer this version over the studio version because it gives the song more feel and emotion and you get to hear Uli Jon Roth at his finest on the guitar. I hope you check it out and most importantly, have a great day 🤘

this was from Suicidal's best period, the combination of Rocky George, Mike Clark and Rob Trujillo(the Bassist who is with Metallica now) was just beast mode, they also all appear on the first two albums of the side project Infectious Grooves, The Plague that Makes your Booty Move and Groove Family Cyco, which blends funk and metal in ways never heard prior, Ozzy does the vocal on the chorus on the track Therapy on the first album, also there are some hilarious comedy skits on the first album as well

Suicidal Tendencies started out as a thrash metal/punk band. Their later stuff is more metal, but they play their songs live in a more punk style. And they started out in 1980 with their self title album which made them a household name in the LA punk scene.

Hell Mona, when I was 15, I went to see these guys in concert. My first time going to a concert, it was a local band Alienation, then Mike Muir's side project Infectious Grooves, then his main band Suicidal Tendencies. The place went nuts when ST started playing You Can't Bring Me Down. Great fucking song, my favorite part is Mike Muir's rant, "Just cause you don't understand what's going on don't mean it don't make no sense, and just cause you don't like it don't mean it ain't no good!!!..........". And Mona, keep doing these vids. I have seen a few of your vids, and you're a cool chick, straight up. 😊

Yup. Another "old head" here. I think this was the first song I heard from them back in the late 80s. I played it over and over until I memorized and could scream all of the lyrics. Still can to this day. Cheers! Listen to this song WITHOUT the beeps! The original... it's SO much better!
