It would be fantastic. I love the first two in the series. I just started playing Suikoden 1 two days ago. It has been 3 years since I last played it. It was wonderful going into the basement and unpacking the ps1 and that game. It's the best gaming experience I've had all year. I gave up on a lot of rpgs because of too many random encounters or really annoying dungeons. Suikoden 1 and 2 is always a pleasure. The only thing I hate about Suikoden 1 is where you have to ride that random wheel to go through and where you have to win 5000 bits from a character to make him join.

Hey Brent longtime no see, it's demi. Here I go trying to line up a date on your Newgrounds portal and find out you've been putting out some KZbin content. I'm delighted to hear about your family and progress as a teacher, as well as your success here. It's funny to think that a random flash I got recommended in Middle School continues to evolve in history even to this day. That said I do have some explaining to do. I'd like to apologize for that last emotional post I made on the Sprite Survivor forums. I was riled up, I was angry, and I vented like a child when I should have taken time to process my thoughts on Suikoden II...just a dreadful way to reconnect after you were nice enough to respond back after five years. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't remember, but it was something that stuck with me, cause that forum was important to me not just for the product you put out, but learning basic internet etiquette both the easy and hard way...emphasis on the latter cause it is hard to read some of those topics during my depressing high school years. Without Arc giving Cecil that Dark Knight helmet, it's possible I never rediscover Final Fantasy IV and begin pursuing retro titles and I've you to thank for that. It's led me to thousands of games, a job at a local game store, my first girlfriend, and too many friends to count. So thank you for everything and I wish you even more success down the road

My brothers and I play Suikoden 2 every once and a while. It's like a good book that you just love to read over and over again. And its emotional impact on us is always the same. Im glad that you also love it. Like you, it is my favorite RPG.

That out of the way, let me try and do a better job Suikoden II from a presentation standpoint is an incredible upgrade from 1. The music can be tense (Tension), it can be joyful (Beautiful Morning), it can be emotional (Reminiscence ~ Ensemble), and it can be daunting (The Chase). The sprites are great and distinct, the portraits are brimming with expression, and the environments are gorgeous to look at. It also does a great job depicting war itself, with so many bodies and death to count, there's genuine anxiety and I applaud that. Although time has passed, I do still think Jowy was handled poorly and after Luca Blight the game does degrade a bit. They just hit a really good moment of triumph and continuing the story devalued that moment and Jowy's rationale didn't help either. I don't really get the appeal of the army fights myself, even when being careful with choosing battalions it just felt like fights were always a crapshoot where most of the time you'd miss, even utilizing the flame lances. The army fights in 1 might have been a bit simple, but at least it required strategy using your spies, wyverns, and such to get results. My troubles with the late game aside, it's still got a lot of personality. 108 heroes by itself is great, but them having secondary uses like manning shops, fast travel, and such elevates them from being some party member you don't use. I still recommend Suikoden I first, as not only do you get another great tale of war, but a product that's a great ride from start to finish and ends at its peak. You can even transfer save data to get some bonuses for Suikoden II like characters levels carrying over. Sadly I do not know the status of the Playstation store, just that the PS3 and Vita are the only platforms that have digital copies of both games...and going physical now is a rough endeavor, most copies running in the 400 dollar range if you want one with the case and manual. Here I was being uncertain when I grabbed 1/2 for 120 bucks back in 2014...if I only knew how lucky I was to bite the bullet then. I'm beyond excited to see if Eiyuden Chronicles is able to deliver the way most people see Bloodstained and Shovel Knight

My favorite game ever made. The story is honestly the best of all time. The world that Konami managed to create is really unbelievable. It's sad that the chances are so low that we will never see a game take place on mainland Harmonia or in the New Armes Kingdom. I'm playing through Suikoden 4 again at the moment and even though it's probably the weakest in the series, it's still special to get your base and watch it grow as you recruit more members. Hope we see 6 one day

I like S3 a lot but at the end is when I start liking it a lot less than V. I mean com'on phantom enemies. SV had better enemies, I mean the Godwins drive you out of your own castle at one point. I think if S3 went through with the Harmonian invasion that would have set it higher amongst the rest.

I have a vast collection of rpgs from Nentinendo, Snes, n64, PS1-PS4. I have struggled to find an rpg that's of similar quality to Chrono Trigger, legend of dragoon, older Final Fantasies. Found 2-3 of them in Suikoden thank god, I'm starting with number 2 than I'll play 1. I've lost my interest in rpgs just trying to reheat all the ones I've already beaten plenty. But I'm so happy to have a new old school rpg series to play.

Hearing the music takes me right back to my childhood. Still one of my favorite games of all time. I don't even like jRPGs that much anymore, but this game still gets me. Luca Blight is still one of the better villains in a game I've had to fight against, and the story between the main character and his sister and best friend is easily one of the best.

No, it's more I think I just grew away from them. As I grew up I played a lot of jRPGs. I mean, my childhood systems were the SNES, and later the PS1, two systems that I think could be argued as having some of the best, if not the best, jRPGs out there. I played a lot of them. Somewhere around my 20s I think I just lost interest, but this one? I can come back to this one (and Xenogears, actually) and play it, and enjoy the hell out of it. I even enjoy the first one, lol, just to get that feel. It was such a good game.

Thanks. I guess I got the passion of rpgs back in 2015 after playing Bloodborne and Witcher 3 back to back. It made me feel alive again. I was reborn like Vincent. The old memories of the jrpgs of the 90's (that I thought had faded away) is now coming back like an old summer romance. I will once again invest my blood and soul into theese games. Starting with Dark Souls 3. I'm looking forward to visiting this page for news regarding rpgs on my PS4. And also look back on a few of those games that kept my teenager years busy from time to time. You see before Playstation there was Sega so that is my long lost love. So seeing a couple of oldschool Sega roleplaying games would certainly make my eyes go on the wet side.....Enough with the memory lane for this time......

This game is probably my favorite of all time, all of the titles in the series are amazing. I only love Xenogears/Saga as much as Suikoden. I still have all my original games, except III, which I am hunting down and it's surprisingly hard to find. Luca Blight is one of my favorite villains, he's flawed, insane and detestable until you find out why he is doing what he is doing. Once I knew why, I found it hard to hate Luca. Now Nanami, I could do without her....lol. ;)

Literally brings tears to my eyes as I also start remembering... oops, no spoilers! :D This is my first RPG, as well. The only beef I have with Suikoden 2 is that it seems a lot easier than any other RPG (highly recommended for first-timers in the genre, also play it without guides). I found the first one harder. Didn't stop me from enjoying and loving this game, though. To the dislikers, yeah, this game isn't as visually impressive as the other RPG contemporaries, but its story is great and characters are indeed memorable (heck, I can almost enumerate the entire 108 Stars of Destiny roster, albeit unsorted). Also, may Luca Blight haunt you for the rest of your natural lives. Mwa ha ha ha ha!

One of the best rpg ever maybe the best!! I played it many years ago and i was shocked by how it hooked me into the story and gameplay. This game is completely under rated while some final fantasy are really over rated lol

I know :( I tried using some new characters this time around. Never used Oulan before, she is awesome! I used Millie who is an alright mage, and gantetsu who is a pretty good all rounder. Didn't quite kill things so fast with them.

this game had eveything tremendous story and some great plot twists tremendous soul tremendous (music) characters develpments and a way to make you feel attacked even to minor characters all characters was alive and interacted with the story or other characters or events in the castle with so many ways, story brances and strategy batles so many hidden secrets and characters that you could not found in one or two playtrough so many rpg elements here and mini games and were part of the world and not just mini games , also the characters intreracted with those mini games, it had it all mystery triller , sad events that felt real difrtent endings the most non clise story with unpredictable plot twist that have meaning and not for the sake fo plot twist , quality humor eveywhere wiough breaking the character and seriusness of the game and perfected emotion icons so we understand perfectly the reaction of characters to something we said or someone else said , greatly that also added a humorous tone sometimes ...conclusion... LEGENDARY

Not too long ago I downloaded it off the psn and it was as good as I remembered. I didn't know how to collect all 108 sod so I got the bad ending first playthrough. One part was as bad as watchin Aerith die for the 1st time

I remember one fateful weekend, being at the mall trying to buy FF8 on it's release date They were sold out, so I bought Suikoden 2 as a consolation prize. I am forever grateful they were sold out of FF8

I love suikoden 2, just look at my 2006 accounts name. If Sephiroth were at suikoden world he'd get stomped by Luca Blight, and if Luca Blight was at ff7s world he'd also beat regular sephiroth (regular SOLDIERS can jump high as Sephiroth, so its not impossible to see Luca Blight able to move and clash pound by pound against Sephiroth).
