Note: Makora,Malevolent Kitchen Filet and Dissect are both correct as well. They can be translated like that too. Which actually is a theory of the fandom of Sukuna technique being kitchen based, with him being a cannibal and all. Putting that aside, I'm sad to know that this isn't near what the animators could have done with more time. Also I recommend everyone to check the manga version of this fight too. The anime unfortunately cut a lot of internal monologues of Sukuna thinking strategically how to deal with Makora.

Malevolent Kitchen might actually not be a meme, since there was this theory that Sukuna's moves are based on cooking. I'll leave the spoilers out of this one since the anime has shown plenty. Sukuna's technique is dismantle and cleave which in the manga showed 2 chef's knives when the narrator explained it. When Sukuna used DE against the finger-bearer in season 1 he said he wanted to cut him into 3 pieces, which is a reference to the Japanese fish cutting technique, Sanmai Oroshi, or three-piece cutting. So yeah, Sukuna cooks every time he fights, unironically.

Don't think it's the same thing. Yhwach isn't even phonetically pronounced, it's meant to conform to Japanese pronunciation using German phonetics. I think Mahoraga was a more earnest mistranslation due to confusion on the author's inspiration: - Mahoraga, a race of deities in Hinduism and Buddhism that are said to protect the Dharma. Megumi's spirit's infinite adaptation and evolution through the cycling of its wheel represents the same Dharma as Sukuna states himself. - The 12 Divine Generals, protective deities of East Asian Buddhism, with one specifically named Makora. Ironically, considering the translations used a Sanskrit word, they'd technically be better off using Mahāla since it's the Sanskrit name for Makora, but I think the multiple inspirations caused a lot of confusion along the way. Personally, I still prefer Mahoraga though, it has so much more weight to it than Makora. But, I don't think it's a huge deal, not like Megumi's striking up convos with Mahoraga every episode so probably the last time we'll hear the name in this season.
