The reason why Megumi decided to use such a suicidal move was because he was already going to die of blood loss anyways so he decided to take that blond cockroach with him at least before dying, the funny thing is that demon dog would have been more than enough for that trash so him summoning that monster is NEXT LEVEL PETTINES, like my boy i know you pissed that he got you with a sneack attack from the back but god damn.

100% right on him just going out with a bang but I'm not so sure about the pettiness. I think summoning the demon dog would have taken cursed energy he didn't have. This was a ritual to tame something that isn't technically one of HIS techniques so its probably free to summon it until its actually his ally. Megumi isn't the type to be petty and emotional especially not to the point of actually ENSURING his death if there was any other way out.

@@Pragabond Actually no, in the manga while facing Toji Megumi mentions that he had enough cursed energy to use domain expansion one more time, in the anime for some reason changed that dialogue saying he doesn't have enough

"Why would Megumi sacrifice himself for freaking ponytail guy" Megumi just finished breaking and out of a special grades domain expansion....and then proceeded to fight the physically strongest character in jjk verse....and to add to that he just got gashed on his back and was bleeding out. He was dying regardless so he decided to play his final card as a going away present to the last bad guy he'll see.

​@@dcanngieteractually, the first time Yuji eats Sukuna's finger, Megumi takes up the Mahoraga summoning stance before Yuji reveals he can still control his body. Then later on when Sukuna rips out his own heart to take Yuji hostage, Megumi stances up and begins the chant before Yuji swaps out and kills himself. And then, when Todo beats him up and eggs him on, Megumi takes up that same stance again before Inumaki intervenes with Cursed Speech. And I'm sure he might've tried on Hanami if he wasn't stuck full of Cursed Buds before the Boogie Woogie Brothers joined in. Say what you will, but Megumi clearly isn't the type to go down without a fight.

@@baronroy2012 All of those are true except for the Todo one. Thinking for just one second tells you that makes NO SENSE summoning Mahoraga to fight a dude in school when all the times he did it before were life threatening sutuations

Megumi was going to bleed out and die so instead of just dying he dragged ponytail into the ritual to kill him too. Regardless of if Sukuna was there or not he still would've done it.

Makora=Mahoraga The Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Malevolent Kitchen=Malevolent Shrine(Sukuna domain we saw in S1) Dissect=Dismantle(Sukuna just regular slicing attack) Fillet=Cleave(which adjust depending on the target toughness & curse energy level to cut them down) Mahoraga abilities is to adapt to any and all phenomena that's why he couldn't die he kept adapting (example are him adapting to sukuna slicing attacks that's why we can see sukuna invisible attacks this ep cause mahoraga adapted and can see himself or him getting gills under water meaning he's adapted or him getting bigger and bigger he's adapting to each phenomena over and over it never stops you need to kill it with a new attack which it hasn't adapted to yet(Fire arrow sukuna use to kill it)

lol seeing how confused you were throughout watching was relatable. Like with a lot of jjk episodes, this one was one I had to watch twice to fully process. The first time to admire the animation and fights and the second time time to understand the info given to us. As a Yuuji fan, this episode hurt a lot! That ending made me tear up. Seeing Nanami makes me both happy and worried. Also knowing Megumi has a beast capable of adapting to anything is wild. It could technically defeat anything if it is given enough time to adapt to it. So the only way to win is to basically one-shot it.

The user of 10 Shadows technique has to tame each of the 10 shikigami in order for them to have control over them when they are summoned. Without taming them they simply do whatever they want once summoned. Megumi has tamed most of the 10 so far but not all of them, the catch is that only already tamed shikigami consume the sorcerer’s cursed energy due to the sorcerer now having control over the shikigami. Megumi states that in order to tame a shikigami the sorcerer can summon them as many times as needed. On top of this Megumi has no cursed energy at that point in time due to using a domain expansion as well as having to fight and outrun Toji. Megumi was also physically exhausted due to outrunning Toji as well as bleeding out from Toji stabbing him and Haruma slashing his back open. Basically Megumi summoned Mahoraga because he was about to bleed to death and didn’t have the cursed energy to summon a shikigami that he has control of. So he was essentially being petty as fuck and saying “if I’m gonna die anyways then you can fuck off and have fun dealing with this thing” and he just summoned the strongest thing he has in his arsenal.

i can only imagine that Sukuna is the way he is because people had been bad to him as once he was weak himself, not part of any big clans, he probably thought power is the reason why people were like that and seeked power himself and when he did become the king, he thinks thats how it is supposed to be 🤔

The entire summoning of mahuraga and some of the sukuna fight was genuinely unfinished which is unfortunate for the animators....but not I cant forget stick figure megumi
