Actually, he wasn’t. As seen before, sukuna was faking him out. Mahoraga had not adapted to the concept of lying before. So sukuna could just fake him out. Sukuna didn’t know if mahoraga could see his dismantles or not, so he tested it by faking out big raga . When ragas wheel clicks, he then fakes out a punch on sukuna before going through with a different punch. Basically, Sukuna fucking with the divine general corrupted him by teaching him how to lie lol

I would like to give more info about something This episode and the previous episode is not made by the staff in Mappa that is generally responsible for JJK s2, these two episodes were completely handed off to a staff who is lead by a star with most connections with talented veteran animators Hakuyu Go, the team is basically called Hakuyu Go team now(even Vincent chansard has mentioned that the only reason he worked in a mappa show was because of Hakuyu Go) this team is a freelance grp they don't workunder some studio. This is literally the only reason why it was using a completely different art style which is called kagenashi aka shadowless shots(tho for aesthetic reasons now studios have started adding 1 or 2 shadow layers)

it's amazing what the animators could do with the time they had coz i was watching the whole episode with my mouth open like 😮 before even finding out about what's the situation at MAPPA. The only time i was taken out a little throughout the entire season was when they were in Dagon's domain, because that place was supposed to be really bright and sunny, and it stood out as a little bland, but apart from that most of the season is dark i mean it all happens at night, so it's not THAT noticeable, and it was still amazing, with how many bright colors they used during the Mahoraga fight, it was straight out artistic tbh

In the event that JJK season 2 had been made under a healthy schedule, this fight would have been completely different due to the fact that MAPPA wouldn’t have thrown every talented industry veteran and free lancer under the sun at this episode to get it done on time. Therefor, we wouldn’t have gotten more consistency, but way less artistic flair and variety. An episode like this won’t ever be made again. Or at the very least, this episode is truly a one of kind due to a million different variables, both for better and for worse.
