Unbalancing and throwing a bigger opponent with seemingly little movement is a thing but it’s more a trick, not magic or energetic thing. It’s a combination of leverage, taking advantage of the bodies natural reactions and timing. For some cultures, these things were at one time considered esoteric and magical (and for the time I can’t blame them)but these days we understand this is just science

this is why I love this arc, because as far as I know there are no Sumo wrestlers participating in MMA UFC.... that's why I'm so curious how strong Sumo wrestlers are and only in this anime I can see how effectively sumo is against other martial arts

Sumo has potential against any martial art, just as anything has potential against anything Technique is nothing without adequate power Power is nothing if you can give it but not take & Endurance/Toughness is nothing if its not more than your opponents' The Rikishi understands this

Well, the fighters in baki need powerful 'nobodies' to show off their strength and whatnot, ofc only in baki this typa stuff is possible bc the characters need to represent certain styles or specific times in martial art/fighting history (in an overly exaggerated way ofc)

@@RafelJaggai Isn't it kinda strange that they have only Japanese martial arts being "supreme," let alone martial artists? I mean, where are Lethwei, Sambo, etc? It's almost feels like Itagaki is a bit of a racist.

im pretty sure there are sumo wrestlers who can defeat mma fighters.. sumo wrestlers are big and very strong and are very used to take hits, they are not to be underestimated

@@no_one01-5read the series. Especially in the beginning. There are plenty of people practice other disciplines. The maximum tournament is a perfect example. Itagaki is the furthest from being a racist.
