All sumo rikishi put restrictions on their fighting style, such as no punches and no kicks, in order to qualify as one. Nomi gave up on those restrictions in the name of pursuing strenght, so he cannot consider himself a sumo rikishi anymore. But he certainly can consider himself rikishi, because he did that not as disrespect towards sumo, but in pure pursuit of strength.

I like how the Sumo guys are the only ones smart enough to think "Yes, I'm getting decisively beaten right now. I'm gonna admit it and live to fight another day. When I was a white belt in BJJ, I'd treat every tournament like a fight to the death and usually end up really injured if I didn't win. Now, as a black belt, I'm happy to tap when I know I've lost. If I need to spaz out and muscle out of a submission, I pretty much already lost. Best case scenario, I muscle out of it, use up too much energy, and then lose afterwards (usually with an injury). It's more efficient to take my L and come back next week

Love Hana but the favoritism from Itagaki is blatant, only loses to technique base fighters and when strength monsters show up like Pickle or Nomi, instead of taking the L like the rest of the cast, Itagaki just has Hana not show up, the fact we never got a battle of the grips with Nomi is criminal.

Not even pickle could push Hanayama back, so this Rikishi IS STRONGER THAN PICKLE!!! or at least in terms of power, there's a lot more factors that make one's strength, but I do believe the Rikishi could be a little stronger than pickle.
