Thanks for showing us that. And those plants are cool, even for us old kids.

That was a very enjoyable walk. They did a good job on those repairs. Love the sensitive plants when they close up. I have a small hardy mimosas outside here in South coast Massachusetts. It folds It's leaves at night, but not when touched. It's dropping them for the winter. They're also called "powder puff plants" because of their fluffy pink blossoms. I had a tree-size one years ago, but it got rot in it and a windstorm took it down.

Happy memories of hiking that trail back in 2019. The boardwalk was looking a bit dilapidated back then so this is a big improvement.

How nice that such a fascinating area is now more easily accessible. I find myself curious about why this area has so much sulfur and the other steam vents you said usually just smell like boiling pasta.

I remember when you showed us the sensitive plant on our tour at the Boiling pots. We were fascinated. 😊

“a little smelly this morning”. Maybe time to change out your socks! 😂 That sensitiva plant does that so it can allow any drops of rain to get to its roots. be back on the island on jan 4. still looking for a truck! thanks for the walk!

When I was stationed on Okinawa, there was a place with sensitive plants. I was told that they were not native to Okinawa. Are they native to Hawai'i?
