Genuine history-Who were the Chaks? They were pure Aryan Darads (cousins of Kashmiris) and spoke Shina a cousin language of Kashmiri. These Darads soon converted to a fine religion Semitic-Islam from Buddhists and Hindus. Most converted to Shia Islam. The Darads are physically super-powerful and very warlike ferocious fighters. Yusuf Shah Chak was a Darad from near Gurez and from a family of recently converted people to Shia Islam. His relatives the ferocious warriors were Shankar Chak, Lankar Chak, Pandu Chak, etc. It is well documented that he led a small Kashmiri Army and decimated the huge Army of Emperor Akbar more than once. There is no controversy on this whatsoever. Markandey Katju is certainly a very good legal expert but clearly does not know the history of the region of Kashmir. I was posted in Kashmir and studied her and her people. Katju must read the Rajatarangini translated by the brilliant Sir Marc Aurel Stein. This history has been proven to be as accurate as is humanly possible during that period. The Aryan Kashmiris have not only been creative but extremely war-like people though they lacked numbers. Yusuf Shah proved this beyond any doubt. Earlier on Mahmud of Ghazni who conquered parts of Iran and the Indian subcontinent was thrashed by the Kashmiris and barely escaped alive. This is only the tip of the ice-berg. The cousin of Babar Mirza Haidar Dughlat was liquidated and his army made captive. Paradoxically Katju himself is a pure Kashmiri Brahman and this microscopic community is known for their mental and physical abilities. The great wrestler Gama Butt was from a converted Kashmiri Brahman family. Ignore the planted history by Wikipedia; this has an agenda.
