Song: "Catching Fire"
Lyrics:
I never told you how I felt
Though I thought I'd said it all
And I never knew you needed help
Well, 'cause you always seemed so tough
But now I'm here alone
Without you by my side
If only I had known
That you kept it all inside
Now I'm trying to understand
Just trying to find a way
But forgive you I just can't
It's all just to much for me to take
And if I failed you, well I swear I tried my best
But now you're gone, so all your tears can lay to rest
Just so you know
You meant the world to us, I know that it's too late
And all I want's another chance, I can't accept that you have left
Look at all this damage done
Are you happy with yourself?
We thought the best was yet to come
And I thought I knew you oh so well
And the days just go by
Like the moment seems to last
Like catching fire
All is gone, and it all went up so fast
And if I failed you, well I swear I tried my best
And now you're gone, so all your tears can lay to rest
Just so you know
You meant the world to us, I know that it's too late
And all I want's another chance, I can't accept that you have left
That you have left
And if I failed you, well I swear I tried my best
But now you're gone, so all your tears can lay to rest
Just so you know
You meant the world to us, I know that it's too late
And all I want's another chance, I can't accept that you have left
That you have left

My brother's friend a couple years ago killed himself He was autistic, but every body loved him he kept it all inside and then one day it was just to much, at his funeral my brother was one of the people who carried his Casket, and one of his friends was there and he broke down in tears when he saw him in the casket, and my brother stayed there holding back tears after the funeral my brother was quite for a long time my mom and dad are divorced so he lived with his dad so the only way to cope with it was to drink he now had started to keep it inside just like his friend did then he started to listen to sum 41 and it changed his mind it gave him hope and he stopped drinking, and started living life again To anyone out there who is struggling dont give up because always remember there is a tomorrow and that tomorrow I promise it will be better 🙏

My friend I don't know what you are going through. If there's 1 thing that has changed my mindset is believing what tommorow will hold you may not be able to tell the future but you sure can hope that it gets better holding on to something near and dear is what will get you through what you may be going through. It's been a while since I made that comment hope your still here with us buddy. I was like 11 when I made this I'm 14 now hope your doing well.

Such a beautiful song. One of my favourite things about Sum 41 is that you guys have both songs that are high energy and songs that are deep and meaningful. And I’m happy to hear that your voice is as strong as ever Deryck. Yours has always been one of my favourites in punk.

Love that too man, these guys have it all, they fill you with both energy and feelings in every album, this band's great and Deryck's a good guy who had to struggle with so much things in this life;he's like the brother I never had...I got into Punk since 2019 and LOVE the genre,f*ck with society and all of the meaningless rules they came up with, most of them are an obstacle for this world to achieve the next level, all they do is stop evolution and create problems,LONG LIVE PUNK!

I live with suicidal thought all my life. Now sitting here, commenting this, i'm glad my 3rd ferocious attempt failed (9 years ago). The small ones were countless. I'm content to say, my suicidal action has stopped many years ago but the thought won't let you go. Sometimes this thought can be very dark, very frightening and so,so empty, all at the same time. The weight is heavier than it seems. So hard to explain. It's chaotic yet you feel so alone. But even being dead alone the thought won't let you settle. Outside it's quiet, but inside, it's riot! Feeling constant no way out. The road is endless and cold. Let me tell you why you can't save them. It's because you noticed, but you didn't try hard enough to stop them. And even if you tried hard, you just can't win if that was the only way out for them. You keep asking yourself, why even with this much of love was not enough to save them? You see, i'd reached that point, trust me i know. At that point, i was so tired, i couldn't see a single way out. But i saw all my loved ones, with their smile, their beautiful faces. At the back of my mind, what happens to them if i'm gone.. I felt sorry for everyone but most of all.. I felt sorry for myself.. The pain was too much to bear even with all the love in the world. Sitting there.. Hours.. Negotiating with yourself... Why and why. Then suddenly, it all just happened. But in my story, i survived me. My loved ones still lucky. Sorry for this to be so long but i just feel like pouring out. After listening to this song, now i know how hard it is for the ones they left behind. Cause all this while, no matter how many times i heard people died from suicide, i would understand and no blamimg for the dead. I knew their suffering. But this time.. I feel sad for the family and friends. I just hope.. My family won't go through this.. But this thought... 😔😔😔

Aylen, yes. (Thank you for your faith and positivity btw :p) Even if you've lost your hope and don't believe in yourself, probably never did even, and life feels like hell, you should still keep trying in *some* ways. But, sadly, sometimes you feel too much like quitting... imo we just have to endure those times, for as long as possible, but maybe it's not always doable...

Damn, just when I thought Deryck could not be a better musician, he’s Proving me over and over he’s a very talented one, I grew up listening to sum 41 during my childhood, loved every single album they dropped out and he is just a charismatic individual for sure, playing live and in person. Political views and ideals wise they support the same things as me, they are very supportive of people, of the cultures, and genders, idk guys but they deserve better recognition imo, Deryck is the truth, coming back from being closer to death just to keep doing what he loves, writing and playing music !

I know I'm really just a random fan but can we all agree that deryck Whibley is such a phenomenal songwriter that could've ended in travesty due to his alcoholism! Idk I'm such a random guy but it makes me so proud to see him songwrite and give up that lifestyle to make such beautiful and amazing music! Like this so he can see this!

I knew this song was about suicide pretty much since it was released, but I never actually listened to the lyrics until this video and lemme just say it really put me in a new perspective. This song and Sunrise by Our Last Night both have helped me with my suicidal thoughts and for that i sincerely thank you Deryck all of Sum 41 for the music that you guys create. This is such an incredibly RAW, emotional, beautifully written song... no matter how many times I listen to this song I can't help but cry... Taking care of any mental health issues you are suffering from is ABS0LUTLEY vital and 100% of the time NEEDS to always come before anything else going on in your life... I know how hard it is asking for help but sometimes you need to reach out to somebody when you're struggling... I've had to many times and this song couldn't have been more perfectly written for that exact reason!! Much love to all!! Hang in there... you don't think or realize how much this affects all your loved ones left behind, even more so if they had no idea how much pain and suffering you were going through that lead you up to this point. ❤❤❤

This hits close to home as sadly not so long ago, i had a friend of mine take their own life suddenly and all of us were unaware of how much she was suffering.
