People like Deryck is what i love about the music world. I have such a love for music and ever since i started hearing Sum 41 i can hear the passion and work he puts in it. The first album i've heard from them is actually Underclass Hero and that will forever be my most prized favorite album because i felt the passion and love and work he put on it. The band changed i'll admit. From Dave leaving to Stevo leaving to recruting new guitarists drummers and to having Dave back. Truly, Deryck is the soul of the band. Without Deryck, Sum 41 would have never lasted so long and still produce such amazing music. I hope one day i get to be like Deryck never giving up and whenever he felt down music was his escape. I want to meet him and tell him thank you and to never stop playing, keep going for as long as his heart desires, even if the whole band breaks up and it's just him i'll still continue to support him. Forever a fan!!!

every binary digit in underclass is perfect, I love Deryck's vision and his persuit to make what he hears come to life. I love how much of a perfectionist he is: He bought a million guitars and spent who knows how many hours turning every combination of knobs till it was perfect, had stevo record drums even for small parts in different rooms with different mic placements etc, didn't let anyone push him off his path to create exaxtly what he wanted, and even chose the monsterous job of producing it too. long live uc and long live sum 41

I love Deryck, but I feel really sorry for Cone, he has good ideas and it seems he doesn't really express himself in their music ... Deryck wrote the songs, but they're a band so I think everyone should put something in the music Still Cone accepts his decisions without arguing too much, he's a nice guy x)

I find this so funny cuz I'm dealing with the same issue in my band.we're starting to get popular in all this good stuff. And we're working on our new album and I want to add a little bit of my flare into the bass stuff but our singer/songwriter doesn't want to give me the chance. He says he wrote the part and this is for how it's going

Brian McEnnerney You're not in a band clearly. Bands that have one guy controlling everyone always fall.

I disagree with both of you. I think that bands can be great both ways but it's only fair to keep your mind open for ideas coming from your band-mates. I prefer to do it like that, since everyone has a say and it can do a lot of good. I would say that Deryck mainly dominates this band but I wouldn't say that they've fallen. I love their work.

Why are they talking about DTLI and Chuck like they were mistakes. Those were their greatest albums.
@mt441pl6 жыл бұрын
He did mention on his site before his fall that he was never satisfied 'with the way that album sounded' and he wanted to remaster it. He never finished it. And Chuck well he wanted to make a better album not just one some fans would like, one everyone would scream about, but sadly, people did forget about sum 41.. until 2016 with 13 Voices. Now they've did or are doing a DTLI tour, i'm pretty sure they get on well now, but back then those mistakes were for a reason, they've lived it out for one thing, to make music, even if they struggled to get together. I understand why people say here 'Deryck was a dick' but really he was the leader after all, and his habits got to him, so he probably does regret it now that they all play together (except Stevo the drummer because he left).

Deryck is really selfish! Cone wants to put more basslines in a song to make it sound better (which it would have) instead of just boring following the guitar all of the fukin time! Whats the point in having a bass player if you cant hear him? Answer that Deryck

see this is why I hate SOME Hip-Hop &Dubstep artists. Sum 41 works their ass off recording and finding the perfect sound. As for Hip Hop they just click a button and add some meaningless lyrics to it.
@sidvicious3324 ай бұрын
That is not at all how it is. Hip hop producers work their asses off along with their sound engineers. I feel really sorry for you that you think that. Show's how little you really know. You should take a music academy course. They're around 120 hours. Then comes 10 thousand hours of practice getting it right. Challenge yourself. Or just spend the rest of your life talking spit.

I don't think deryck was the pillar of sum 41's success. I mean, every musician in a group has a way to compose lyrics, riffs, solos and stuff and, beside that, every musician has a different point of view of the creation process. When all this things come together in a single work, we have masterpieces like all killer no filler and does this look infected, where you can see deryck's lyrics and Dave's heavy metal guitar playing in the same side. If you try to suppress someone's creative mind, you destroy the possibility of going beyond and you kill the band's creative process. That's what happened with sum 41, it became some kind of imitation of green day. Sad to see one of the most influent bands of my life going like this

I gotta say, I am extremely disappointed in Deryck for not being an open minded Artist in a collaboration project. I am shocked he did not let his band members have any say in his songs, this is a solo album by Deryck I have now deemed. Deryck simply does not have the talent to make music just by himself. I think that is why the loss of Dave really hurt because Dave is far more talented than Deryck will ever be on the guitar. If there is one the thing you have to do in a creative process it is to say "yes and" because Deryck kept saying no and kept his band mates in the dark. Really disappointed. Deryck is a dick... I went into these four parts thinking they were going to be like Blink and Green Day in the studio but I can see why the album didn't get critical success now, Deryck simply is not good.
@subscribetothischannelforl606210 жыл бұрын
You clearly haven't been the frontman of a band and don't know what it's like. And you don't seem to know either that pretty much every Sum 41 album is a Deryck solo album. He writes everything, and in this case produces everything. Yeah Dave was pretty badass, but without Deryck the band is literally nothing. These guys have the success and the life they've got thanks to Deryck. The difference with Green Day is that in my opinion Dirnt is a better musician, they are all great musicians, but when the members of your band are just decent you gotta take the lead. However I have to agree that it's pretty strict not to allow a couple note changes on the bass

@@subscribetothischannelforl6062 but this idiot doesn't care, that when they were making this album, Dave left the band at this moment, and came back in 2015. (Sry for bad english) They made this album with Tom.
