Oasis is my favorite bands. Sum 41 is the first band I saw live. Used to be my favorite when I was a little kid but then I heard The Masterplan about a year ago now I know all the lyrics to every oasis song.

Not a Sum 41 fan by any means, but this is a decent version. It's weird how it's always claimed that Oasis never made any inroads to North America but that all the bands that have come from North America since then have all acknowledged, if not an influence then certainly a respect of Oasis. From Lars Ulrich to Dave Grohl to Tom DeLonge to Deryck Whibley, they all are into Oasis. Think Oasis did make their mark there, just more by influence than sales.

Wow, all this hostility and fighting. I'm not a big sum41 fan but they have a few good tunes as do most artists. Oasis is my preference but I'm not opposed to covers by bands I don't usually listen to. He sings on key, and you can't fault his choice of equipment. Good cover.

guys I just wanna share my story, see about 8 years ago I was a very very big fan of sum41, and I still like them till now, and this particular video has made me discover oasis, when I heard this cover I thought, this is a really great tune I wanna hear the studio version of this, and then from that day, my adoration of oasis has slowly overshadowed sum41, but I still love sum41. I'm here just to say I really love both bands.

yeah i saw that interview as well, they were talking about the definately maybe album, and noel was talking about when they started recording it. Oasis formed in 1991 so liam was 19, so yea, thats when they started the album but got signed 3 years later

A line in Blur's "Country House" - 'What's The Story (Morning Glory)' was a cheeky dig, further fuelling the supposed rivalry between the two bands. I miss the days of Britpop!

Noel isn't the best singer in the world, however there is a certain raw element in his voice that gives his songs attitude and, when combined with ingenious lyric writing ability, makes Oasis one of the greatest bands of all time. He covered it well, yet nobody can replicate any Oasis song perfectly... it's just impossible.

Oasis and Sum 41 are quite similar. Definitely Maybe and All Killer No Filler are first records that perfectly capture the vibe of a generation and are perfect examples of the styles both bands helped to culture.

A cover is about playing a song preformed by an artist, and make it yours, express your own sound your own style into it while keeping the original a life, respecting the original but make yours different.
