I think one of the main reasons for them calling it a day is Derick's health. I don't think he can physically perform on stage anymore. Dude literally had heart failure late last year and that's pretty serious for someone at his age.

It's a variety of factors. Deryck's health, Tom's commitment to Gob, Dave wanting to restart Brown Brigade, and Frank and his variety of projects. Cone is probably the only one who doesn't really have anything else going on. I just wish Stevo was here to experience the end of Sum.

It is also I think one of the reasons the fanbase is so nostalgic about it, because we all feel the same. Life kind of steadily gets worse after your childhood is over. And longing on the past really sucks, but it is so hard to move on. These bands and these songs don't make it any easier, but they definitely help you feel less alone in a world full of change and fear.
