A DNA microarray (also commonly known as DNA chip or biochip) is a collection of microscopic DNA spots attached to a solid surface. Scientists use DNA microarrays to measure the expression levels of large numbers of genes simultaneously or to genotype multiple regions of a genome. Each DNA spot contains picomoles (10−12 moles) of a specific DNA sequence, known as probes (or reporters or oligos). These can be a short section of a gene or other DNA element that are used to hybridize a cDNA or cRNA (also called anti-sense RNA) sample (called target) under high-stringency conditions. Probe-target hybridization is usually detected and quantified by detection of fluorophore-, silver-, or chemiluminescence-labeled targets to determine relative abundance of nucleic acid sequences in the target. Yes ... thank you ... this really is very good. However, what happens if the good cells 'hog' all the samples at a certain spot before the bad cells get there. By using the same array, is there not a possibility that the results could be incorrect?

Thank you so much. I have watched many videos on this topic but this is the only video that summarizes all I have learnt so far from the previous videos on this subject. The animation was spot on! :)100% The question about how the buffer solution detached the mRNA from the column beads? I think it has to do with the breaking of the relatively weaker hydrogen bonds that exist between A-T base pair since they have fewer hydrogen bonds compared to G-C base pair. Please I hope this is right if not what is the answer? I also have a question. Why do some microarray hybridizations use Biotin-cRNA for the labelling of the cDNA (they call it in-vitro transcription) in the sample instead of the labelling mix used in this video which would result in a labelled cDNA and not a labelled cRNA? Thank you.
