This very famous Thumri.....Baajuband Khul-khul Jaaye....Raag Bhairavi, has been sung by many great musicians like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali and many others. Even Lataji has sung this thumri in a film ! But again, Mehdi Hassan saheb always gave a new flavor to his classical based renditions, performed live in any private mehfil . And this has surely been a surprise gift for his music lovers, as most of us were not aware that he had ever sung this Bandish ! The soft and soothing rendition of the nuances of this bandish, enhances the lyrical beauty of this thumri... Bajuband khul khul jaaye, saa.nwariya kaisa jaadu daala re....Reminds us of Radha's deep love for Krishna! The intoxicating lyrics have been decorated with beautiful laikaari, and the subtleties of this classical bandish rendered so meticulously, touches the chords of our hearts ! Poetry and gaayaki at its best, a Magnum opus of Khan sahab. One of the timeless classics, and time just comes to a standstill listening to his divine singing, hypnotizes you completely ! Slowly I have been imagining this thumri behind a picture as if a bird is flying and flying over the sky, a peacock dancing in a forest under the rain. Its the Maa Durga puja festival begins in West Bengal and Navaratri in India and abroad. On the eve of this great festival, this thumri rendition by Ustad Mehedi Hasan Sahab is the best gift for me. While listening this I feel as if I have been listening the voice of the God from heaven. This rendition is a rarest of rare. Behtareen upload Sumanji! Mujhe toh yakeen nahi ho raha tha ki Khan Sahib Mehdi Hassan ne ghazal ke slawa thumri bhi Gaya karte the. Tilak kamod raag mein Khan Sahib ka aur ek thumri....tu aja, nadiya kinare Mera gaon.....bahad pasand Aya tha mujhe. Uske baad aur ek famous thumri aaj suna. Khan Sahib ke voice mein thumri sunke yehi mehsoos hota hai ki .....agar ghazal gayaki ka kuchh kuchh andaz agar thumri mein bhi apply kiya jaye toh thumri gayan ki madhurta aur bhi bridhhiprapt hota hain. Khan Sahib ko thumri ko leke aur bhi experiment karna chahiye tha seriously. Thank you so much Sumanji and Jamal Rashdi Sahib. Aaplog aise hi sur mein rahiye hamesha.
