Sumatra Nepenthes Expedition

Sumatra is home to arguably the greatest diversity of carnivorous pitcher plants of the world. A total of 37 known species are found on this biologically rich island alone, along with tigers, rhinoceros, elephants, countless orchids, and even the biggest flowers on earth.
This expedition takes you on a 16 day itinerary to see many of the most spectacular Sumatran pitcher plants in the wild. We will trek through pristine rainforest, mossy cloud forest, and up to the summits of dormant volcanoes to observe Nepenthes in their natural habitats. Along the way, we will encounter a vast diversity of birdlife, mammal life, orchids, and (with luck) open blooms of Rafflesia arnoldii and Amorphophallus titanum, both the largest of their genera and the world’s biggest blooms.

Rafflesia arnoldii has the largest flowers. Armophophallus titanum has an inflorescence with many tiny flowers.

The large blooming flower that is straight up, does it stink like death? A long time ago, someone brought one to my hometown. Boy, oh, boy did that that bloom STINK!!!!

Saya pernah bawa dari sumatra dg berbagai jenis dan ukuran bungga kantong semar....? Setelah di jombang tau di mana ilang ...? Saya pulang tinggal bawa batang akar saja...? La pada waktu bapak sàya telah wafat/ meninggal dunia...? Dan henpon saya masih di genggaman tangan saya dapat kabar dari kakak sa'at itu juga gempa jogja terjadi dan hape saya masih teteb terhubung...? Dan saya sampai rumah tas belom saya letak kan gempa aceh menyusul selang brapa bulan nyusul lagi payaman tau mana....? Tu cuma crita doang boss ma'afin saya....?
