I just discovered this. I'm incredibly impressed. Why we don't see this guy more often on telly. What a great explorer and educator! Thank you!

It's crazy (& beautiful) to think he's travelled halfway around the world to meet a 'salt of the earth' next-door neighbour type of person. Different countries, but like Marelda, same sort of people carrying on local customs and furthering knowledge, is this a Cook island?......❤❤❤❤

Just re-started video and feel double stupid as I read a excellent book about Fletcher Christian and Capt Bligh, about how (& my Capt Cook reference) Bligh was Midshipman on Cooks 2nd voyage/endeavour, gaining such knowledge that his charting of the coastal borders he observed in they're epic 4000 mile journey was used by the Admiralty for something like a 150 years, but once in the trial for mutineers family owned newspapers and portrayed Bligh has a cruel inhumane person which couldn't be further from the truth, though 1 of the 3 mutineers (my minds blank onthe other Colderage's mariner) but 1 unfortunately pled guilty hoping for leniency which wasn't granted.❤❤❤

Dramatic much? That small island is literally an Aye-Aye reserve, with guaranteed night viewings because the Aye-Ayes rely on the coconuts to supplement their diet.

What puzzle me, how did the first explorers found pictures of dinosaur that are so accurate with the technologies at the time. The same pictures of dinosaur on the walls of Angkor Wat Cambodia.

Did they really have to kill all of the reindeer? Now the only thing a human can eat on the island are seals and birds, which I imagine are seasonal. Just because the reindeer are not native, does not mean that they are detrimental to the environment. To be frank there is not much life to disrupt to begin with, so it can only be a plus. I just think it is silly. Why not leave them alone on the island? Someone obviously went to an enormous amount of trouble to bring them there in the first place. There presence also makes the island much more habitable. Without them, surviving on the island would be much harder. Perhaps impossible without a boat. There is not really any other permanent land animal you can eat otherwise, so killing them all just makes the island more dangerous for future ship wreck survivers, researcher, explorers, and anyone else who happens on the island. This is surely why they were placed there in the first place. Why do this? For a song bird? I love song birds, but they aren't very useful when you are trying to survive. You are just making South Georgia worse.

It's worth noting, however, that Tristan da Cunha is not completely immune to crime. In 2004, a high-profile case involving sexual abuse and assault of young girls over a 40-year period came to light, which shocked the community and led to the conviction of six males. leaving the doors unlocked is ridiculous

It’s weird that isolated islands are like that. Pitcairn Islands is totally full of convicted pedophiles.

It’s fascinating how different each person who has ever lived experiences are from one another based on time and location and their own emotional climate, if you will. Makes me kinda proud to be a human even though I’m not very successful by society’s standards. I’m okay with myself. Been through a lot and made it out stronger.

I don't trust their current mayor Simon Young for an instance. Their only "naturalised" politician. Why was he so eager to move there after his first visit in the early 90's? Why was he so readily accepted into their society? This island needs to be depopulated.
@wagonhound_official19 күн бұрын
Why are these people still allowed to self govern? They continue to let themselves be ruled by pedophiles and convicted rapists. The women have been raised to think this is normal. I am vehemently anti-government but this is a very unique case where I wholeheartedly believe they should be extradited to other nations in the commonwealth and the island needs to be left to scientists for research and to never be allowed to be permantly settled ever again. They should've been imprisoned in the UK or NZ. Instead they were allowed to build a practically clandestine prison on the island where they all got off early on good behavior, later to be elected to the government of the island, their prior convictions withstanding. How can this be allowed to go on under a British territory? It should've caved the moment these convictions were solidified.
