this is much better than throw me in the jungle (which was essentially just an overly long breakdown). the technical riffs are back, the use of keyboards is superb and the production's pretty good. the drumming even has hints of the black dahlia murder in places. this does sound very rehashed however, wouldn't feel out of place on TWDA

Better than the first single, by far! ...but all of their new songs (we've heard) have the same structure, I don't get it. Prove me wrong, homies
@BelugaTheHutt9 жыл бұрын
+Yung Napkin No, you're completely right. It's superficially similar to their early work, but at its core, this is the same style of songwriting as Tomorrow We Die Alive. So it's not very creative, but at least it's good, unlike their previous single! Really, you've got to keep your expectations in check after a clunker like TWDA, and I'm finding myself while not impressed, pleasantly surprised.
@michaelzamora80569 жыл бұрын
+BelugaTheHutt great way to put it. this song sort of harkens back to A Higher Place with a more pop song structure and it's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd say it's a slow transition away from TWDA but maybe that's my over optimism.
@will42829 жыл бұрын
it's a boring structure, but whatever floats yer boat

Everyone criticises TWDA PUT personally I enjoyed it, as Machine was my introduction to BOO. Now in saying that, their old stuff is a lot more complex obviously and I get why people hate TWDA. For any doubters of TWDA, check out BOO live. Those songs are really fun live. On my channel is a video of their summer slaughter set, which actually had Throw Me in The Jungle in it. I wasn't impressed until I saw it live. It's simple but fun

+Siris Galloway "metal elitists gonna elite" Sorry kid, "metal elitists" don't even look into bands like BoO. The people who are condemning these songs are people who are bored of these riffless chugs with "how to shred book" licks, and generic keyboards.
@veehaytch34409 жыл бұрын
Roderick Peterson hmm that's why they were all over the discovery right? Fine, we won't call you metal elitists, just assholes
@BunnyArisu9 жыл бұрын
+Roderick Peterson ^ Lol. That's cute.
@jjheart22179 жыл бұрын
+Roderick Peterson I've closely followed boo since about 2008, and when they released the discovery they really did pick up a lot of, what I guess you could call is more "true" metal fans, not literally "trve" type people, but yeah, people who would 99% of the type hate anything -core most of the time, but thought of born of osiris as a 'decent' band out of a bad bunch. You probably won't notice unless you are a long term fan of the band. I know that in my home town guys that would normally be into Arch Enemy, Bodom, Nevermore, basically anything with a lot of technical solos and more technical than average rhythmic work, gravitated to boo as their token core band because the discovery was a lot more 'metal' than it was core. I think because more 'normal' metal has faded from the mainstream and given way to poppy metalcore, I think a lot of people who are/would have been pre disposed to like proper metal, have gravitated towards sorta progish metal/deathcore and djent, and that's why we see a LOT of 'metal elitists' in boo, periphery, aal, vom etc music videos. I can probably guess that you caught wind of the band around the discovery right? Because before then, I know that with the new reign they had a huuuge alternative 'scene/emo' following in the Midwest, People forget that these guys are essentially a deathcore band at the core but fill out the musical gaps in deathcore with 'something'. It was the crazy, spastic riffs and chugging on new reign, the melodeath tinged melodies and progressive harmony/structures of higher place, the metal approach and shred solos on discovery, and the very elaborate keyboard arrangements and textures on twda. The people who tend to hate post discovery boo I find are 9/10 the guys that hoped on their hype after they carved out their place in the modern prog/tech metal scene. But the thing you have to remember, they've ALWAYS had the same amount of chugging, if you actually listen to the discovery, it actually has about the same amount of 0s as the new reign or twda, its the absolute basis of their sound. They aren't a riff centric band. It was more metalcore breakdowns before but now its more djent based. The 2nd thing you need to think about is, born of osiris music is NOT written by the guitarists, Jason didn't write the discovery (other than the shred solos) and Lee did NOT write most of twda. Cameron is the most important member, so what ever you think of boo, as long as Cameron is in the band, they can be as technical, melodic, stupidly repetitive, groovey, heavy or weird sounding as they have or will be.
