I don’t have a lot of family. So when I lost my mother before a deployment I went on in late 2010 it really hurt. Fast forward to when I first heard this song that following year, and it broke me. 2023 and this song still gets me. I’m thankful for it though. Every time I hear it I’m reminded of her and the love she had for me..

This music makes me miss 2011-2013 when I was 18 to 20 years old. Life really does takes it toll on your sense of being carefree and young. So coming back to listen to this really helps me be thankful of those times when I was younger. You'll always have a place on my playlist Asking Alexandria.

I had a friend who showed me this song back in 2012, and initially introduced me to Asking Alexandria. It's a bittersweet memory, because we always listened to this song, and unfortunately this year he had killed himself. So to have this song to hold on to means a lot. I miss him so much. He had a big impact on my teen years. I'll never forget you Derrick. You were the best! 🥺💙💜🦋

On a day where I'm feeling low kinda wondering what's the point this makes me embrace this crap life more. Living beats the alternative. Keep living my brothers and sisters. There is always someone going through it like you, hold each other close. Live fast man with no regrets, much love to you all brothers and sisters!

11 years ago, I listened to this and felt not alone at 16. Thinking of my few friends, knowing I had them even if only them. Now I'm 27, still listening to this song. The meaning is the same, but completely different. All those close friends are now dead, and the lyrics "Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home" is still for them...but its changed.

The song reminds me of when I was overseas I tried telling my mom that she shouldn't worry that I would be okay the level of torment I put my mom through thinking that every day she was going to have two men come to my mom's door with news I was killed in action. Just the thought that I wasn't there for her that I was airborne light infantry OEF and OIR army special forces mission unspoken destination unknown I never told my mother what I went through fully. Hearing enough of what I told her made her bawl as it was. To all the men that want to join special forces do yourself a favor don't, you will go through absalute hell and you will never come out of that world the same way you walked in. I have severe PTSD from what I saw medals and scars it's all you're going to get out of it. And those scars continue to hurt for the rest of your life and nothing can help you heal them. Do yourself a favor and stay home. I absolutely hate human beings because of what I've seen them do I keep to myself and I tried to cope with the hell still raging in my head like a fire that can never be put out. Go to college meet a nice girl that will talk you out of it do yourself a favor and stay home.

LYRICS Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone Because I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart, my life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own It was you that told me I could do this You put the music in my heart And how you sang with the band in memphis It's hard just to be strong not knowing if I've done you proud I like to imagine you smile when you hear my songs Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone Because I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart, my life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own A letter home and I know we don't speak much And we both know I'm not keen to but I think there's things I've left unsaid I'm okay don't worry I wish I'd been a better kid I'm trying to slow down I'm sorry for letting you down Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone Because I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart, my life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own You know it's just rock and roll I know you're by my side through it all My terror twin and I Let's take over the world Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone Because I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart, my life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own

God the nostalgia tied to this song is one of my favorite and least favorite things. I used to be heavy into a lot of music like this AA, BMTH, Falling in Reverse, I listened to it all. Asking Alexandria was one of my favorite bands of all time but as I got older I grew out of my love for this kind of music. I'm at a place in life where this was the music I want or need but this song and this music will always hold a special place in my heart and every now and again I'll get my urge to listen to some of this music and just think back on all the memories like warped tour and just cruising while rocking out to some Asking Alexandra.

Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own To call my own, to call my own It was you that told me I could do this You put the music in my heart And how you sang with the band in Memphis It's hard just to be strong not knowing if I've done you proud I like to imagine you smile when you hear my songs Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere, praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own A letter home, and I know we don't speak much And we both know I'm not keen to But I think there's things I've left unsaid I'm okay, don't worry, I wish I'd been a better kid I'm trying to slow down I'm sorry for letting you down Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere, praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own Yeah! You know it's just rock and roll I know you're by my side through it all My terror twin and I Let's take over the world Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere, praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own Even though I'm on my own, I know I'm not alone 'Cause I know there's someone, somewhere, praying that I make it home So here's one from the heart My life right from the start I need a home sweet home to call my own

I love this song! Always have and I incorporate metal elements in my chill music (if you are keen to detect it you can hear it). Just haven't worked up the courage to say so. Brings me back to junior high always.
