@LuneP4 ай бұрын
I noticed that too and while it is nice, I felt then she took "they wouldnt work for me" a little far, I felt she was talking way too harshly about herself, like saying "I look like an idiot" about the dad sneakers, or saying she would look ridiculous on a micro mini skirt, or the way she said the boho blouses "would NOT look cute on me", and also saying some people look cute in the barrel leg jeans "but not me, definitely not me" (while grimacing)...I'm not trying to hate on her AT ALL, she seems funny and nice, but I couldnt help but hit like the middle of the video and have this realization of "oh...she's putting herself down a lot I think" There's nothing wrong with admitting something doesnt look good on us, but I think everyone should be mindful of not saying stuff like "I look ridiculous/ugly/like an idiot", just "I dont like how I look it in" is enough, and to be honest, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so we should also be able to say "I think X thing is ugly, if you love it that's perfectly fine tho" without having to go to the lengths of "You look LOVELY, I would look like a sack of potatoes" I'm also not trying to be negative in her comment section, but maybe she doesnt realize she did it, and it might help someone else realize it too

I am seeing most of these trends come back around for the third time. Boho tops, bubble skirts, adidas (first time around), micro minis (rocked those back in the 70s too). I figure when you see a trend come back that you wore as a teenager or in year early 20s the rule of thumb is to not wear it again. It looks less like style and more like a costume. Picking out clothes to give yourself some polish, style and grace is a definite sign of maturity. When you have learned to dress and appreciate your body and your tastes you stop chasing trends and become your own style icon. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing what you have learned to inspire women everywhere! 😊 And never wear a shoe that makes your foot painful or bloody!!! 😳

I’m 63 and just bought two bubble skirts, one midi, one maxi. I love the shape and they flatter my figure. I’m not a trend follower, never have been but I will wear these for years. My style has always been a bit on the unusual side and I expect it always will be. I also dress up more than the average North American, never been a jeans and tshirt person. I believe I still dress with grace and style but just with a bit more panache 🤷♀️.

@cc15265 ай бұрын
Dad sneakers are the *epitome* of “is it cute or is she just skinny, 20, pretty, and tall.” There’s nothing wrong with being skinny, 20, pretty, or tall - that’s not the point. The point is if anyone over 35 with a little weight wore those shoes, no matter WHAT they styled them with, they would be called “ugly old lady shoes” and it’d be used as an example of an “unstylish look.” I personally hate styles that only work on young people cause even though I’m young now, I want my pieces to be somewhat eco-friendly and last the test of time in quality and style. If I have to be 6 feet tall, 100 pounds, fake tan with hair extensions and a full face of makeup to “make it work” then it just doesn’t work cause that’s not realistic for the majority of normal, not “model off duty” type of people. I like styles that are cute on any age or body type (or at least on a lot of people verses just one very specific body type and gen.) That’s just my maybe unpopular opinion.
@cc15265 ай бұрын
And just to clarify, cause people get offended over the use of the word “normal” when talking about people - I didn’t mean “normal” as in body type. I meant normal as in not an influencer or model aka someone’s who’s income is NOT dependent on their looks. I was not implying normal = curvy and skinny = abnormal by any means. I meant people with a “normal” occupation.

I also saw the Gap x Doen collection, was initially excited, liked several pieces, but then realized there were little things (i.e. super short cap sleeves, wrinkly fabric, synthetic materials I know won't wash well, small room for larger busts in the dresses, and light colors that wash me out) that gave me an appreciated "out" for what would have just been another regretted (and kinda expensive) clothing purchase. I have soft leather high platform Dr martens, Spezials, clog Birkenstocks, mini Tasman uggs, and dad sneakers by Niki. Honestly speaking I love them all and wear them A LOT. Like somehow a lot of these shoes I genuinely liked on me and found them comfortable. Sometimes I ask myself if I bought them because I was influenced, or was it that whatever influencers promoted, actually ended up comfortable and fit me As for things that I didn’t find for trends, barrel leg pants have been amazing for my body shape as well - and I am not skinny and I’m short. So I think it’s quite a testament that in the modern day, we get to have quite a lot of choices. I grew up in a country where it was very difficult to import things and my options were tight skinny jeans that were extremely long. Now I live in the EU and I’m so happy at the options

In the year 2024, for how much we have to pay for things, there is no excuse for companies to be making uncomfortable shoes, especially if those shoes aren’t high heels.

I loooove dad sneakers!! And it’s ironic bc my dad never has worn sneakers like those lol idk if those shoes are just a white dad thing or what 😅 but maybe that’s why I think they’re cute!

I used to say that if I participated in the trend already, I am not doing it again! 😂 no mini skirts, pleated minis, low-rise, tied butterfly tops, white eyeshadow, platform fiam sandals....never again!

Totally agree with micro skirts plus I don’t want to see the hoohaa of others nor flaunt my own -nope. The dad sneakers as well and the butter yellow completely agree. I love the color but nope…I am a wash out.
