Summer Bass Fishing Tournament at Falls Lake, NC

Fishing a bass tournament on Falls Lake, North Carolina in the summer time. I ended up in fourth place after catching my fish on structure offshore using a crank bait and ned rig.

Falls lake can be a great summertime lake. The bass are usually found offshore and in 8-12 feet of water, especially on the southern/eastern end closer to the dam. If you wanted my prefishing video, then you saw I had some real good spots marked out and caught plenty of fish. However, things changed on tournament day.

Part of the reason was probably due to the change in conditions. The week between prefishing and the tournament, we had rain almost everyday and for a couple of days the air temps didn't reach out of the 60s. That caused the water temps to drop 6 degrees, although the lake level actually dropped even with all the rain.

I ended up catching my fish on the same spots or in very similar areas. Typically offshore around some type of cover like rocks or brush.

It is always good when you can place enough in the rankings to pay for the registration fee. Falls can be a tough lake. I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting. I fish out of Upper Barton a lot. White Champion 210 with dual talons and a Merc.. Maybe I will see you out there.

I see you said you lost a Crankbait... do you carry multiple of every crankbait, or what? That’s a lot of baits.

In the summer time I carry a lot of crankbaits and usually a lot of 5xds and 6xds. I really only use sexy Shad, chartreuse, and a crawdad colors. In the first two I usually have at least 4-5 of that color

The bass live in those brush-piles so you’re bound to lose a few when you run the lures through them
