DIB, you truly are one the premier railfan channels on KZbin. I was born and raised in Kalamazoo. So many fond memories of taking the Amtrak from Kalamazoo to Chicago, and your videos of that area are like a homecoming trip. Likewise, your vids of my new home area of North Carolina are equally entertaining and educational. Your mix of narrative and simple, glorious train watching is superb (authentic crew radio chatter...wow!). Kalamazoo was a unique place to live because trains cut through the city in numerous places. So much that saying "I was delayed by the train" was always a legitimate excuse (late teenagers that are smart learned this very quickly). I think a video there could be worth your while (if you haven't already) especially from Kalamazoo to Union Station in downtown Chicago (home of the infamous baby carriage scene from the movie "The Untouchables"). Thanks again, guys! Outstanding work.

SD40-2 is one of my favorite locomotives! Here in Brazil, we have two unique SD40-2 versions: some former CPR SD40-2 with narrow-gauge (1000 mm) trucks (these machines run on Southern Brazil) and some European-built, Irish-gauge SD40-2 (In Rio - São Paulo freight services, there are many SD40-2 built by MACOSA in Spain!). Also, Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas (a Vale railway) bought some Conrail SD40-2, rebulit them with B-B narrow-gauge trucks and renamed it EMD BB40-2 - the nickname is "Titanic" due to larger front walkway.

EMD is the best locomotive manufacturer; better than GE. Along with the GP50 and GP7, the SD40 and SD40-2s are my favorite locomotives of all time. Most of the time, SD40-2’s that are more than 40 years old take less maintenance than a 20 year old GE locomotive.

@dhriti The deep Humming & Turbo Howling of SD40-2 645 Prime Mover is Kinda Unique compared to 710G series. This is the reason why I love SD-40 more than any other EMD locomotives. But yes our Indian WDG4 GT46MAC (Early 12XXX Series) has some of these characteristics like SD-40.

@DelayInBlockProductions2 жыл бұрын
Um, they already have strict regulations and have since 2002. All locomotives built after 2002 have at least Tier 2 emissions standards all the way up to Tier 4. The locomotives you see here are 30-45 years old. Plus, even if they “roll coal,” think about how many trucks a 100 car train takes off the road. At least 200 to 250 trucks. Even without the EPA Tier standards of 2002 and beyond, they are way cleaner than trucks.
