Are you searching for a spiritual awakening? Then join us for the 100th episode of Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown! Mayim and Jonathan reflect on spiritual awakenings explored in the Michael Singer and Byron Katie episodes. They discuss practical parenting applications for Byron Katie’s techniques, including ways to avoid putting your expectations on your kids, the importance of allowing time and space for kids to adjust to new situations and the benefits of prioritizing an emotional connection between parent and child. They explain the limits of trying to intellectualize oneself out of suffering, the differences between reacting and responding, and how spiritual fitness can allow us to overcome "hormonal hijacking." Mayim and Jonathan open up about their own daily spiritual awakenings, why pausing is undervalued, and the dangers of living for the next adrenaline rush caused by conflict.

Buddhist call it non attachment. Basically, you're not attached to the outcome. It doesn't mean you don't care, it doesn't mean things won't annoy you, etc. You can only control yourself is part of the knowing of your realization. You observe. It doesn't mean you accept bad behavior it means you can see it and possibly remove yourself from the big stuff. You just know one of the most important things to is to keep your peace of mind in the experience of life and how we interact with others. That's sort of what I learned in a nutshell. You have to protect it and treasure it and keep it in your thoughts or you can lose it in a heartbeat.

Can I tell you how much I loved this episode? So much! I'm not a spiritual seeker and have never been, yet have experienced 2 significant spiritual awakenings. The first was amazing and put me on a path of diving into energy healing. And the second one took me exponentially deeper into healing, yet has been over five years of daily discomfort to utter hell. (Healing my way through it). As Jonathan talked about, every little aha moment is an awakening. Every time you're able to catch yourself in a situation and make the choice to act differently is an awakening. True awakening happens in discreet moments. They don't have to be profound to be meaningful.

It's impossible for anyone to not be good enough when you understand that we are shared consciousness. We can choose to practice finding that space between our thoughts and expand it. You may have some confusion about losing yourself if you buy into being shared consciousness. Rest assured Mayim you will lose nothing but gain the world. And I loved when Jonathan said you did have an Awakening because you did. And the more you practice doing just what you did in that Awakening, you start to feel the ease with which you are able to ameliorate situations that used to cause suffering. You will fall in love with this space or seat of the soul. You created that. And if you value and nurture that... it will grow. This was a great video, thank you both.

I'm so glad I went back through older episodes and found this one! I loved those with Byron Katie and Michael Singer and I, too, have been caught in the "But where's my spiritual awakening" for the last two years. Having escaped Southern Baptist and Calvinistic conditioning for the last 10 years (and lots of other religious and cultural conditioning --like most humans) I've been looking for that almost magical aha moment. The "aaahhh" that Mayim perfectly characterized. I'm now getting the point that for so many, if not most, it's the small, incremental awakenings that get us there. That we really do (as cheesy as it sounds) have to appreciate the journey to awakening and regularly sit and reflect on where we've been to where we are. Thanks so much for all the work and authentic vulnerability you two share! To paraphrase Mayim, we really can't all have a sudden awakening at once. As wonderful as that may seem, as a species I just don't think we work that way. We have to observe, learn, and adapt. 🙌🙌

Whatever ones "awakening moment" is. I see it as growth in their life. Sometimes we over think and over process our lives. Sometimes just being and let be is the best. Not that we shouldn't have responsibility for our lives and how it affects those around us and the world. But we just have to accept it for what it is. For humanity it is the most difficult thing.

Wow. This was wild. I recently had the same validation for my therapist about not wanting to cause friction or tension in the home. But I react different than Mayim, I instantly blame myself and say that I should have been doing those chores myself or I'm a lousy parent because I can't make them do things. So my therapist said if I don't want to cause tension in the home which is understandable because no one wants tension in the home, then it's fine that I don't argue about chores. And if they complain when they get older that I didn't make them do enough things as kids I will just apologize and say that I was doing the best that I could.

I REALLY enjoyed this episode - thank you! I enjoyed both episodes with Byron Katie & Michael Singer that you reference here, but as you’ve had more time to meditate further on what you learned from them, consider how/if they apply to your lives, etc., it’s really cool to hear your take on them again after the fact. So we get the episode as it was recorded & all the cool things that happen out of that, as well as your own findings after time. I REALLY enjoy that kind of format. Thank you!

Super weird, yet here I am. This is gonna sound coo coo 😅, I believe I can explain how to increase the odds that you will very likely experience something similar if you would ever be interested in hearing about it, privately. I experienced an awakening the summer of 2020. It was and is the hardest thing I've experienced in my 63 years. It will change your life in unexpected ways. Such as, I started hearing voices and went to a psychologist for diagnosis. My behaviors have changed. I don't need approval from people nearly as much as before. That was huge for me. I'm disconnected from family and friends due in part to the changes in me. People who I have been close to for decades are no longer available to me. I have more intuition than ever before. Life changing intuition. I've changed almost everything in my life. Job, housing, family and friends, views on money and abundance etc Dreams and visions are at times overwhelming. But I would do it all over again

39:45 I swear... you make me feel so much better about being 32 and just now learning these things. But like, our emotions are messengers and we feel like they "keep us safe" so... unless we're TOLD they aren't always trustworthy, how can we know not to trust them?! I think a lot of us nuerodivergent folk learn to NOT trust our intuition soooo young because everyone around us tells us constantly through disapproving looks and outright statements that our process of experiencing the world around us is "wrong" so we begin to perform their way and disregard our intuition and that leads to emotional turmoil and that results in adults who can't trust their emotions anymore until they unmask, deconstruct, relearn and get back in touch with their intuition - I imagine humans with less trauma have more trustworthy emotional responses... so much food for thought in these episodes! Love this format as much as the rest! 💕♾️

As someone who has experienced both the mountain top, or special experiences, few mayor, one specifically special, then smaller ones, and the snail steps forward in growing spiritually. Both have their awesome bits and cons. The snail bits are more about character growth, which is the slower version of a mountain top experience. Thank you for another amazing podcast!! Basically try to take yourself out of the situation, as if you are a bystander watching from afar, before you react emotionally, which is easier said than done for sure, but with practice I think it will be easier and easier. Also pick your battles, is this something that needs to be addressed or is this something that you can just let go and move on. A big one for me is "Not everything has to be perfect" and that's a hard one to let go of. I am trying to live more with "Done is better than perfect" and it's extremely difficult for me to get past this one, especially when it comes to my work life and photography. Thank you for another great podcast. I love learning about different points of view and different aspects of mental health.

Love Love Love This & The Other Podcast’s . My only disagreement in this case scenario. I believe we are all on a spiritual journey constantly to improve ourselves. Being more aware to observe our thoughts. Not always trying to..overly analyze “everything.” Which of course is a intellectual thing to do. However, it takes from the bigger picture. And it can come across as sounding, extremely sarcastic. While also presenting the connotation as appearing demeaning. There in point..lies where the most probability of things getting lost &..not flowing organically. Analytical reasoning cannot out rule. A higher dimension of understanding without always questioning why? It’s in the acceptance and gratitude. Where we can find peace. We are a work in progress!! All The Best!!😊

Hey Mayim & Jonathon, I recently stumbled on pre-birth stories by people out there that are absolutely fascinating because of the unique perspective deeper inside the reality before earth and the context different than typical NDEs. Christian Sundberg.... his story and book. Along with Theory of Everything (MBT) by Dr Tom Campbell . They go together separately as their info is big. Each needs the full hour... you can ask either. But bringing them to your podcast... it helps all of us to awaken at this tipping point for peace and globalization. I was 💯 atheist before serendipitous stumbling upon these KZbin interviews. It opened me up to more and more as I researched to corroborate the mindblowing info... omg... I'm late to the party! My life has taken an immediate deeper meaning and my ability to see good in everyone increased easily. Seriously, bringing science and the pure love of consciousness together is THE BEST! It awakened me 🥰 A big key to finding out ourselves is meditation.

(Mayim - I had to split this assessment in two parts.) [ Meditation leads to awareness of telepathy, and awareness of telepathy leads to meditation. ] Honesty socially is more important than DOING to impress others. It’s not what we DO to build social value that matters. It’s the respect we are willing to give, as well as the authenticity and sincerity we have within our personalities. The ideas we choose to participate in matter most: they are either friendly or cruel socially. Material wealth, body size, facial features, or DOING will never create authority by default, which is the ability to pass judgments socially the most. Aristocratic men are hypocritical, cowardly, and jealous. Anger and zero accountability are not replacements for honesty and empathy. No one has control over ideas socially. Authoritarianism is a shallow head game: the refusal to share honesty (friendship) socially. Men with negative intentions will show complete bias against ideas supporting emotional freedom, free thinking, and level states of being. Spiritual development, the focus away from the material and towards psychology ONLY (attraction), is promoted as “not important” by conformist men with abusive, fearful, and pragmatic personalities. Spiritual ideas immediately decentralize power, elevate mood, reduce manipulation, and eliminate leadership. Spirituality places much more emphasis on social inclusion, honesty, and collective consciousness. Authoritarians weaponize the material or development in it and use both as reasons to criticize and remain unfriendly (dishonest). Dishonesty is the only way the idea of power may exist. When friendship is seen as more important than power, material development is subservient to mood. When the material is used to boost self worth and reduce others socially, mood is subordinate to power. Joyful ideas supporting free thinking (telepathy, cooperation, and honesty) encourage growth of the human persona, are anti-manipulative, and promote emotional harmony. Men focusing on the immaterial (personality) and on honesty (friendship) have more evolved minds compared to authoritarians consumed with leadership (power). In order to seek status, alphas intentionally remain closed-minded (materialistic), manipulative (controlling), and antagonistic (blame), while also forming intense judgments (jealousy) about more emotionally developed men. Men with mature minds are authentic with others, focus on humor, and shun the idea of emotional leverage. This makes them an unintentional threat socially to serious and conceited men with elitist personalities focused on dominance. Leadership is not warm, nor is it real. It is used in practice to reduce pride in others and to artificially boost feelings of self worth in an individual focused on social image only. Men focusing on telepathy are contradictory socially to alphas promoting leadership. Men with inherent worth (love for others) are offensive to men trying to prove worth (lack of belief in self) with material development. All men know consciousness (Source) and possess a conscience. Possessing a conscience is knowing right from wrong, and refusing to lie about awareness. No man is exempt from understanding Source (love) within, and all of us know we are mentally connected. The idea of comparing human beings to unaware animals is cunning and manipulative. Alphas rely on shared lying socially about awareness in place of being honest (friendly). Character development is ignored with this psychology. Our feelings (thoughts and beliefs) are transmitted and shared vibrationally and mentally. In order to seek power, which is the intention to emotionally reduce others socially, men must feign unawareness of a conscience. Cruel ideas are deliberately participated in and broadcast mentally promoting social dominance. The willful focus on a friendly collective consciousness is a contrarian idea to human animals playing dumb. Being EQUAL TO in the mind socially IS secure, and the ONLY true expression of emotional security that exists. Authoritarians refuse to focus away from being unfair human animals, and remain consumed with social inequality. This forces an unrelaxed, emotionally tense environment driven by melodrama and contempt for others.

I was wondering if Jonathan or Mayim has read the book titled, The Spirituality of Imperfection, by Kurtz & Ketcham? It talks a lot about the Higher Power and also pulls in the story of how AA started using that term? It really talks a lot about the same things in this episode. Jonathan is so smart, wise, and patient. He really saved the show when it was looking like it was veering off the edge. Turned out to be a great conversation. I hope you guys talk even more about spirituality in future episodes.

As a bipolar person, properly medicated, I have few emotions at all. In the beginning I documented every emotion, its severity, and worked with my therapist to determine my proper medication mix. I have wonder about this though…..

To simplify: (1) You either accept that you are the awareness to thoughts, thus removing a lot of the power thoughts have, OR (2) you get lost intellectualizing your life via thought, thus forgetting your place beyond those thoughts. Bottom line: Our brain can produce thoughts like a machine. 99% are irrelevant. Sometimes we use our mind to solve problems, improve our current situation, create something, and these thoughts are obviously beneficial, but the rest of the time, it's like we have that ChatGPT on a randomized setting just spurting out all this random information. The problem is that to us, it doesn't feel random when our mind is like, "Have you noticed how ugly you are?" You don't think, oh, random thought-construct let it flow over me so I can go back to doing something productive. Instead, you think: "Why, yes! That is relevant, dear mind. Tell me more!" And get caught up in endless thought spirals, which come with emotional residue, which builds up in your body until you have anxiety, depression, and all other issues.

Hi there Mayim and Jonhan ; I really, really love learning more from the both of you guys. But, I was wondering if you are going to do more info into mental health illness. Sometimes I think that it would be really wonderful if you would do more on each of the different types of mental illness. It would be real. I have listen to all of the interviews from the very beginning of your you tube podcast that rally help alot of us that are struggling with. I find myself in alot of these people. And would love to here more about them or it. To help me find out more the illness. I hope that I am making sence to you both.

This is in reference to my playlist I created on my KZbin page, and is meant to compliment my personality assessment. It ends war: (( Some of the lyrics (songs) are straight up IN YOUR FACE direct, and others are poetic and metaphorical. I think I am highly accurate with my interpretations, but art is subjective. I took many factors into account, such as the personality of the artist expressed in the music (ideas, interests, and beliefs), entire discography and the repetition of similar ideas throughout the music catalog of the artist(s), and my own personal experiences with spirituality as well. Having my own experiences with psychic mediumship jarred my understanding of the points of view of others greatly (in my opinion). I am a huge proponent of independence in thinking (no anger over a difference of opinion). The less manipulative the human mind is, the less critical it is socially. When people focus on information ONLY, they are always friendly when having discussions. I use that as a base point, and then explain the reasons for my personal beliefs. It’s way too much to go into here, but these songs are so straightforward it won’t even matter. You can see it for yourself. This compliments my alpha assessment. )) This is a KZbin playlist I made of songs about telepathy, mental/emotional connections to the spirit world, and vibrational healing from Source: kzbin.info/aero/PLAaeGTcewqEhPXwATVMVCsRYiMnEV6wbC

I had so much to say in my comment till my wife called and derailed my train of thought. Anyway, I enjoy listening to y’all on KZbin (usually doing something else while listening). You put a separation between Protestant and Judeo-Christianity. I’m wondering what the difference is because Lutheran was the first Protestant church and it’s very similar to Catholicism, and Protestants are still Christians as are Catholics.

This episode is still giving me so much to chew on. I still grapple with the advice Byron Katie gives to "just pick up the shoes if it bothers you." Should moms always take the hit to cater to our kids? I truly don't know, but I have a hunch it's better to be honest and say, "Look, it bothers me that you leave your stuff everywhere. Can you please help me care for the home we share together?" I felt like Mayim was feeling that way, too, and I want her to know we're not horrible if we feel that way. There's too much putting mom's feeling aside and letting us take the emotional hit when we should be raising our kids to view us as humans who need just as much emotional understanding. BUT I'm not saying I'm right. I'm saying, shit, this gives me something to challenge myself with, and the entire episode is so deep and real. This one as well as her recent one with Bari Weiss are my favorites that I will listen to over and over.

Dr. Can u bring in Swami Sarvapriyananda in the podcast , his views and school of thought could add new perspective on meditation to the audience. By the way, Swami Sarvapriyananda went to Harvard school and is popular on you tube for his talks on meditation and self enquiry and could be the best one to share his views on consciousness from an advaitic perspective, one of the most famous school of thought in India prevalent before Buddha and became even more popular after Buddha by Shankara. Also this perspective was first brought to the West by Swami Vivekanand in 19 th century.

I honestly believe that our higher power, and “moment of awakening” is when you manage to think like Friedrich Nietzsche. What doesn’t kill us make us stronger and don’t look back in angry. Try not to screw up and if you do you can always start again.

I know what you mean. When I first started listening to this mindset it was almost like a foreign language but after a while it's concepts are understandable. Try reading some books. My first book was The Compassionate Life by the Dalai Lama and the next book I enjoyed immensely was The Chocolate Cake Sutra, but there are many good ones to choose from.

My dear respectful mates, thank you so much, great show, well ı think ı might be having spiritual sleeping issue rather than awakening, feels like my spirit is in kinda asleep mood right next to my kundalini energy, those idiots are still asleep and it's not an easy process for me to awaken or invoke those two, ı'm still workin' on it however, unlike my dear friends ı don't wanna learn no more, ı just wanna experience a sort of tranquality or serenity for a long period of time and that's all, ı've no expectations, no dreams and no directions, the only righs thatt ı'm still interested in currently is alien rights and nothing else, this the age of aquarius era might cause a global spiritual awakening for the distant future of course in terms of cosmic astrology but no so fast ı guess, ı'm not that much into rality term anyways, ı think there might even be be endless alternate realities and multiple universes, and all those alternates must be kinda holographic and also interdimensional realities so on and so forth, yes we might be literally fish in the bowl and some elite guys might be watchin us from outside of this limited area or dimension, they might even be manipulating, controlling our minds from the fifth dimesion for instance, who knows? So as a matter of fact ı still kind of would rather to be chasing dragons in the middle earth or performing some imaginary magic with my dear buddy Harry Potter or something. The only realities that works for me are peace and love,ı believe in love and ı think god is love, ı have no identities other than being a universal entity, that's my only id actually, Last night once again ı have found myself in the strange ocean of an alien world with 3 suns and 4 moons in different colors, those moons were moving slowly upwads and downwards directions, ı have watched 'em for a while and then ı just slept.with my best.
