This demonstration inspired by overgrown summer meadows is a very loose and highly abstracted exercise and is perfect for those who love lots of colour and movement in their work. It is easy to create and very adaptable so please feel free to experiment with different colour palettes and design formats.

Goat-Haired Calligraphy Brush The brush used in this demonstration was purchased from Jackson’s Art. I regularly use the Large and Medium sizes of this brush. Please see the link below: www.jacksonsart.com/jas-chine...
Hake Brushes Used
This is a goat-haired brush that has been used for centuries in both China and Japan. It is very versatile and can be used to apply large washes of pigment and to create loose textured areas; a great for loose wet into wet watercolours. The ones I use are Pro Arte Ron Ranson branded brushes. I find these shed hairs far less than cheaper alternatives. It’s useful to have these in a range of sizes and they can be purchased as a set of 4, please see link below:

Paint Used
Paint, I use a variety of paint brands including Daniel Smith and Windsor & Newton in both the Cotman and Artist’s range. The Cotman colours are very economic to purchase and are used by both students and professional artists including Sophie Knight RWS.
