@CoyoteWildfire5 ай бұрын
First off, big, BIG yes to this. The gameplay loop needs to be fun, but it also needs to end right where the loop begins, thus incentivizing the players to want to start the loop all over again. If the Monster Hunter Team does nothing else right, the gameplay loop would still carry the game with how refined and polished they’re known for making it. But what you mentioned about fashion souls / glam / layered armor being a heavier focus for the way the armor system works in Wilds? Gods, I hadn’t even thought of that. Absolutely love the idea of having my pick of aesthetics AND stats, without having to sacrifice one or the other.

I figured that Capcom would test the waters with semi open world before they went fully into it. But based on what I can tell from first hand account retellings is that Wilds has little to no loading screens in gameplay. I say little to none is because Capcom apparently did confirm in one of those retellings I've seen, that yes MOST of the game is one interconnected map technically. But you don't have full access to every locale/biome from the beginning of the game like say a Breath Of The Wild style open world game. UNLESS there's like let's say a large ocean inbetween locales that you can't just walk between to reach certain locales. Which that wording at least to me confirms we are actually gonna have more then one map in Wilds probably at launch. Because that wording sounds super deliberate. Now as for the Elephant in the room, the underwater combat deconfirmation. I have a theory this might happen it might not. But I propose that we aren't getting UNDER water combat. But we are getting combat on it. Like say we are in a forest map, maybe the environmental mega event that happens is a huge torrential storm that creates mass flooding in that forest region. Where the water is waist deep but not so deep we can't walk in it similarly to World. Which obviously isn't the same as true underwater combat but it means that water combat is still a factor just not how we envisioned it at first. In a way that doesn't make everyone who hated underwater combat super against it. But in a way that still acknowledges it even in a small way. It just seems like safe option I could see Capcom taking if not in the base game definitely DLC. Because I have a very very strong feeling that Lagiacrus will show up in the DLC expansion if he isn't in the base roster of Wilds. And who best to market this new psuedo underwater combat. Then the literal flagship of the game that gave us water combat.
@CoyoteWildfire5 ай бұрын
Hmm! I like your thoughts here! So you’re suggesting that there might still be water combat, just that it would be a stormy or aquatic biome and the water is only waist deep? Or alternatively, perhaps combat ON water, not unlike the Dahren Moran fight?

They stated that the point of voiced palicoes was because there will be a lot more happening in the environment and with the sheer volume monsters that having a text box on your screen that you also have to read is a bit much. I agree, last thing i want is to have to read the text for stuff like that and take pot shots because my cat passed me a note. Them balancing it more between visual and audio stimulation is a good thing. It's just practical and a welcomed change for me, My eyesight isn't the best and, for me in particular, my one eye is way better so i have a habbit of just using it so it's harder to focus on as many things in detail like reading. They did say you can turn this off and have the cats meow but why give yourself extra work to read that stuff mid combat? i like how the sink hole is just how the balahara operate, they strategically set these traps. It's not if diablos is in the zone specifically under here you can make him create the trap by hitting the wingdrakes that make a sonic bomb effect to convince him into making that happen. That only worked if diablos was not only on the map but also in that zone, only. they stated that each locale will have at least 2 large monsters that operate in herds. I can't wait to see more new and maybe some returning monsters being given this heard treatment. Maybe some flying wyverns will be in flocks. We saw the legiana in Iceborne's story or the seregios in MH4U's story but these 2 examples were more fleeing than social, flock like, behavior but i would love to see this new system with other flying monsters. each map will have its own weather event, or recurring natural disaster, and likely a monster that takes advantage of it like how this guy seams to take in the lightning with hsi tail to shoot out out of the horns. That thing from the trailer, that they said is not the flagship, looks like a flying wyvern. He only has 2 legs so not like the magalas. He does look similar to, or have elements of, early zinogre concept art where they considered making him a flying wyvern. My hope for focus mode is that you can aim attacks so that specific moves that have set trajectories can be aimed. If the main attack for your weapon can never hit a certain part of a monster regardless of positioning, do it the attack angle, focus mode may fix that. i don't care where you are positioned, some parts of a monster are too low for lance high trust to hit or you can only his spirit round slash on the head of some monsters if you are on an insanely tall ledge. Same goes for CB's horozontal axe double swing. If focus mode fixes that, more people will use it.

Something i've been trying to wrap my head around is how the (new) jewel system is going to work. Like, are there predetermined jewel parings as in world? That would leave a lot of bias towards certain weapon pairings, or would we be able to customize which jewel paring could go together? But if that is also the case, it would make for some absolutely broken combinations, unless there's limitations, or possibly the return of negative skills? If it's all RNG it could take obscene amount of time to get the combination you want. I don't think they want to go back to RNG jewels since they can make or break builds. it's going to be interesting what solution they come up with tbh, kinda excited to see it
@CoyoteWildfire5 ай бұрын
So I'm feeling quite sure that they'll have jewels and decorations back, but like you, I *really* hope they reduce the RNG nature of the system. I'm pretty confident it will work a lot like World's, so my biggest concern is what you mentioned: they can make or break a build, and the heavy RNG really puts a downer on the enjoyment.

2 Things I noticed in Oceaniz's list: >> DOUBLE WEAPON MOVES?? DA HELL??? >> The Camp thing I finally got clarity (I think?) after so much conflicting opinions. They're basically combining Wild Hearts mechanic with World. In Wild Hearts, you do get a fixed camp (as far as I remember) but you setup all the other ones at whichever place you like (based on your Dragon Karakuri limit)... and all Dragon Karakuri (aka Camps, Ziplines etc.) are destructible, but they reconstitute soon after. So I think what they're going with is kinda similar, in that you build a certain number of Temp Camps acc. to whichever locations suit you, and they won't spontaneously pop while you're away. BUT, if they're at a place near to monster activity, then when you're close enough for the Monsters to render, said rendered monsters CAN destroy your camp. So the idea would be to make camps off the beaten path, places that normally monsters don't come to, and also not fight too close to the camp. I think the system is mostly because Carts are generous in expeditions, and having the ability to set Temporary Camps anywhere may allow you to rush and kill any monster in expeditions, simply by placing a camp right at where we fight (not to mention item-box refilling, which allows you to spam mega barrel bombs). I'm also assuming destroyed camps need to be manually reconstructed, and may cost atleast some resources. Basically I think camps won't be just randomly off-screen'd, they'll only be destroyed during expeditions/hunts, if (a) the camps are at or very close to large monster activity paths/zones, and (b) we're close enough for the game to render said monsters (doesn't necessarily mean we can see them, will depend on how much of the map the game is rendering at a time, even in low-poly object form, and tracking... for example in Wild Hearts i've seen Dragon Karakuri being popped on like the opposite side of a mountain, around 500 m away, because the game is still tracking the monster that's on the other side, even if not rendering it, and has detected that the Karakuri is in its path)
@CoyoteWildfire5 ай бұрын
So the double weapon moves comes from carrying two weapon sets, if I'm not mistaken. I think it's the difference between having a melee weapon (like a Greatsword), but also carrying a Bow Gun that you can swap over to. This would, effectively, give you double the weapon moves because you're carrying two weapons with you in the fight. Yeah, I wonder what sort of limitations will be imposed on the temporary camp mechanics, and how much it may help deter the infinite-cart, infinite-restock abuse of Monster Hunter World. I think having temporary camps are cool, and to know that they're destructible could introduce camp "maintenance" mechanics, where you have to defend your temporary camp, or even repair it? That would be kind of neat. But yeah, I definitely think that "spawned" monsters will likely persist on these maps, even if they're not actively rendered. The AI will still be there, calculating the behavior in the background, which would be amazing! I think it would really help make the world feel real, and persisten.
@tatsumiuchiha55595 ай бұрын
@@CoyoteWildfire Agreed. I just hope I don't have to worry about Camp Maintenance when I'm not on the map... coz otherwise, once we get all the locales, before every hunt we'd have to go back to the map and run around repairing all the temp. camps, because we were busy on other maps and the camps deteriorated... which would become a pain. Basically I hope the camps are destroyed only by actual monsters and not have a deterioration rate/timer... so well-placed temp camps would require very less to no maintenance, because monsters come by very rarely or never.

I got a couple thoughts relating to the monsters of wilds First wow they look so alien, that's not a complaint but they do look quite aesthetically different to previous games to me and there's something a bit more horrific about these new ones Second, with herd behaviour will to apply to all monsters or just some? Personally I hope it's just some cuz not all monsters are social creatures, some are just solitary but I wonder if they are gonna turn some of the older monsters into heard animal, that fit lore wise like Duramboros females are known to be herd animals, would be interesting to see that retrospectively done Which brings me to my last point, we've not seen any returning monsters other then the token rathalos, so how much of the cast will be returning monsters? Are we gonna get a tri experience where it's mosty new? Either way I don't want to know too much I really hope they let me discover most monsters in game for myself instead of spoiling them on the trailers
@CoyoteWildfire5 ай бұрын
There's absolutely a lot more of a visceral approach to these designs. They look meaty and fearsome, and a little less Jurassic Park, if that makes sense? It's exciting, but I also think the graphical uplift has a small part to play in how grizzly the new monsters appear. Herd behavior, imo, is a mechanic they're really looking to showcase. I'm assuming that former monsters will retain much of their typical behaviors (unless they were meant to be a herd originally), and a lot of the new monsters will come in packs and herds. I think it's great that they're leaning into this, but I don't get the impression they're trying to completely redefine all monster behavior to fit this new mechanics. So I agree with you! I actually want to remain as unspoiled on the monster cast as possible. Naturally they're going to showcase the new and exciting things in the Wilds trailers, which is fine by me, but I really hope they don't release a full roster list before the game drops. I want to experience it for myself (as much as any creator can, at least, where we kind of have to be on top of these details to make content).

I'm glad to hear your thoughts. If you look at the "characters" section of the official MHwilds website, don't those Hunter's Guild emblems look like the Arabic numeral 6? I previously found something that could prove MHWs is MH6, but it seems like no one really cares. As for Gemma, I think it will be like Aiden from MHW, or rather, Aiden from MH4. They are the same person, but the story text never explicitly says so. If it weren't for the Netflix animated Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, we might not even know his name. Perhaps we need another Netflix animated series to confirm Gemma's connection to MH4, although I believe 99% of the netizens are correct. Do you remember the opening CG of MH4? An Insect Glaive hunter is chased by a Tigrex, and in the first trailer of MHW, or as Asian players say, PV1, our hunter is chased for a long distance by an Anjanath. In actual gameplay, we don't do that; we hunt monsters, not the other way around. Capcom wanted to make this kind of dark humor really fall on us players, so they finally found a game mechanism. Another game mechanism, I think the first trailer of MHWilds, PV1, features the great sword's super defense, with the other two hunters continuously pursuing. I believe this is an evolution of 4-player interaction. In the past, with 3 people not killing the BOSS and slacking off, one strong player could handle it. Now we can make some actions to help others hunt, which is a qualitative leap. Before August, what might happen? After MHW's trailer was released at E3 in June, there was indeed no second trailer, PV2, in July. However, in July, 14 types of weapons were released, which was very novel at the time, different from MHXX/MHGU. Everyone was looking forward to a bright future. You know what I mean, so I think before the Cologne Gamescom, we can still get something in July, and possibly at the Cologne Gamescom in August, the next map might be released. The Tokyo Game Show in September might release the third map. This is my thought based on MHW trailer.
@joelee37965 ай бұрын
By the way, the closed-door demo of MHW at E3 was not made public at the Cologne Gamescom; it remained a closed-door demo. It wasn't until about a week after the event ended that we saw the game's UI when Ryozo Tsujimoto and several KZbinrs played it together and released the footage on the official KZbin channel. At the Cologne Gamescom, they only unveiled the trailer 2 for MHW, featuring the second map, Wildspire Waste. So, I guess the trailer 3 for MHWilds will announce the second map. There's too much sand, I need more vitality and color, Ryozo Tsujimoto. In fact, MHW also showed us the Ancient Forest for two months, There's too much green. The 14 initial weapons were also displayed in the green Ancient Forest. When we saw the Wildspire Waste at the Cologne Gamescom, our spirits were lifted. When we saw the Coral Highlands at the Tokyo Game Show, players felt like they had ascended to heaven, even though we, in the future, knew that they were missing a snowy map. But, man, the previous MH never had these things before
