WOW!!!!!!! Different vibes from your usual stuff. Instantly Tangerine Dream came to my mind, and the Canyon dreams pictures. Seems to be an eagle flying over the Grand Canyon. Absolutely great!!!!!!

I share the heat oppression of the last few days. Great evolving track to cool things down this evening. The Volca FM really excels at chromatic percussive sounds. Cheers!

The FM is magic, lol....it's starting to edge out the keys as my favorite Volca.

I'm still waiting on mine... but I have a second-hand FB-01 to explore... the pain is that I have to write all the software to control the synthesizer from the PC, and C/C++ is not my native language. ;) Nevertheless I'm having a great time with this return to FM synthesis. Cheers!

Another great track! Quite simple setup but as always you really get the best out of it. I'm having trouble expressing how much new the FM sounds ad to your music. It's just awesome! :-)

Thanks Arrayzable! I don't know why people hate on FM based stuff. Boy is it easy to make it sound horrible too though, ha.

It's pretty nice, it has definitively become my favorite volca. It's daunting at first but after exploring it for a while it's not too bad....plus there is like a billion DX7 presets as well that load in fine if you want a starting point or to dissect how they got the sound.

I'm just floored. I really dig some FM synthesis & Volca FM sounds awesome but if I ever do buy an FM synth I really want a Yamaha SY77 or the rack version TG77.
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
Those Yamahas sound great as well. There are just some sounds you can only make with FM synthesis.

The heat has arrived !! Has a very summer night feel . Are those bellish sounds the FM? I still need one of those bastards , lol. Amazing work my friend !! Love the think atmosphere.
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
Yes the keys is doing that background bassline type thing, all the rest is the FM and one patch(it's making that low sound, the metal-ish clanks, and the bell like sounds all at once). There is a small amount of "plate" reverb and then LCR delay on a Kp3. The FM is crazy good.

Such a great start, those beats man, so rhythmic! an abundance of FM evelops the track, so nice and is that Zoom R24 new to you guys? don't remember seeing it before, anyway the recording is so good, very crisp, great stuff.

Yeah, I really like FM based sound...I feel weird if the Volca FM or Reface is not used. I just like how it can fill up the sound-scape.We have had the R16 and R24 for the same amount of time now(maybe a few weeks difference), one at each place or we can double them via a USB link for 16mono/8 stereo ins. I found them super cheap on sale, on amazon.

Cool, I like the movement in this one. Evolves really well and all the sounds blend well with each other. I haven't heard of "No Man's Sky", but I'm a big fan of those styles of games. What will it be released on?
@Philipplus8 жыл бұрын
Hi! I was just enjoying the music and stumbled across your question. No Man's sky is planned to be released for Windows and PS4. Cheers!
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
Yeah it unlocks for play at midnight tonight on PS4 (if you pre-ordered). I noticed that it pre downloaded last night while I set this video to upload here.. It has procedurally generated eco-systems/planets/solar systems/galaxy’s. It's crazy. The main point is to get to the center of the universe or something crazy like that, but it's a giant open world sandbox type game.
@MrFricoco8 жыл бұрын
Mmmmm..... man that totally sounds like my style of game, sadly I don't have either of those systems... Why can't I still be a kid?? Stuff like this would've been awesome to have growing up.

Love this! The description says that the Keystep is controlling the Volca Keys but in the video it looks like it is controlling the Volca FM (Blue MIDI cable)? I'm really interested in how you have this all set up, I'm currently torn between the FM and Keys as my next Volca. I'm leaning toward the FM.
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
The Keystep is plugged into a "Midi Solutions 1 to 4 way midi splitter", it is connected to all the Volcas and it is sending start/stop messages and a clock signal to all the units. Then the keystep is also set on the same midi channel as the Keys(I think it was on channel 4), which makes it so anything on the keysteps arp or sequencer just sends those notes to the one unit. The FM just happened to get the same colored midi cord as the the one coming out of the beatstep. The FM can take some time to get used to it because of the huge amount of options, but is the best of the Volcas....it can make pretty much any type of sounds, plus the thousands of DX7 presets that you can load up too. Don't get me wrong, I love my Keys, but the FM is way more bang for the buck having 16 pattern save slots with pattern chaining, and the arpeggiator, and 32 saves in the soundbank, and it has 1/1, 1/2, and 1/4 time just like the keys. I really want two or three...they can just do so many sounds.

Great track! I have the keystep and the midi solutions quadra thru, which is connected to volca fm, sample, and bass... but I still can't assign midi channel for each of them, when you play a note on keystep the 3 synths sound at the same time
@olleandersson80548 жыл бұрын
Sounds great Miles! I see you have the keystep. How is it compared to the BSP?
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
It's pretty nice overall, but one doesn't really replace the other. The BSP is more powerful with more features and such, and the keystep is a decent keyboard with some extra functions(chord mode, 8 64 step sequences(poly, not mono), and the arp with 8 styles). They work well together, and both can power midi splitters so that's always a plus. I got the Keystep instead of the keyboards for my roland Boutiques.

How do I get the key step to play sounds from my fm or other Korg volcas? What's the process cuz mine just won't play the keys.
@MetatronsCube237 жыл бұрын
First make sure the midi cable is in the midi out port on the Keystep, and then check if the midi cable is fully seated in the Volca's midi port. Next start up the Volca Keys while holding function down. Check if the step 6 led is lit, if not press and turn it on, press REC to accept.(sets internal clock to auto so it can switch over to midi). Next turn the unit off, then hold "memory" while starting it back up, this will show you what the midi channel is set on, you can change it to anything 1-16, press REC to save the midi channel. If you have multiple Volcas you may want to set them all to their own channel like set the keys to midi channel 1, and then your FM to midi channel 2. Now if everything is working, you should be able to select what midi channel you want to play on by holding down the "shift" button and pressing 1-16 to select the channel on the keystep. You should be able to just play at that point using the keystep. If not there may be a problem with the midi wire or the Volca unit itself. Check any other random things like volume, attack, decay, etc to make sure the Volca is able to make a sound too. Hope you get it sorted out.
@annsolis79148 жыл бұрын
did you use a quadrthru in all ov this. just wondering. im just now learning about midi.
@MetatronsCube238 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Keystep is connected to the quadra-thru. Then a midi cable goes to each of the Volcas, which are all on different channels(1,2, and 10).
