good songs are timeless, I was a teenager when the song came out. my brother had just returned from the states , he brought(to south america) this record with him and I was fascinated by it from the start, at that time I didn´t even speak a word of english,eventually I ended up living in california from 1971 to 1975 , I still enjoy immensely listening to this remarkable song after more than 57 years.... a spoonful of bliss

I grew up in rural Kansas. I moved to Chicago area as an adult and worked in the city. When I heard this on the oldies stations, I saw how closely the images evoked by the song in childhood of "summer in the city" matched the reality of Chicago in the summer!

One of my favorite concert memories was seeing The Lovin' Spoonful performing on a stage in the middle of the rodeo arena at The Ohio State Fair in Aug. 1966. I was 15 and this song went to #1 that month. A year later on Sept. 2, 1967, my brother and my cousins and I were back in the same grandstand bleachers watching Herman's Hermits.

Such memories. This song was popular when I was in Navy boot camp in San Diego. We had a radio in our barracks, so this song was frequently played. Seems like only yesterday… now (2021) enjoying retirement here in the Philippines.

Beatles were simply the best band ever. Songwriting and production was way in advance of anything else going on in the 60s.

Nice compilation video. Spotted Simon Dee at 1:03 - I remember his show Dee Time, he drove an E-Type in the credits. Must have affected me in some way as I eventually got one for myself!
