When I was 9 my grandma brought me in a cinema in Paris and we watched this movie together... I was very young so I didn't understand everything, I couldn't completely feel the beauty of this masterpiece, but it stayed in my memories for a very long time ! I remember having pictures in my head during all my childhood, it kinda traumatised me in a way, and I was always telling my environment about this movie, with a little boy and his wings... I couldn't remember the title and sometimes I was making researches but i didn't find it until my father ( by chance ) bought japeneses dvds, and found it in it. 7 years later. We watched it again two weeks ago, and I felt so emotional and nostalgic. Every time I listen to this music, it brings me memories about my grandmother, about a part of my life... I feel like I have a story with this movie and I can't explain how the place ot takes in my heart is big. ❤️

I cant listen to this without crying. On our first date my fiancée told me she liked this song after I told her I liked listening to classical music, so I went home and watched the movie right away. When I told her about that, she said she hadn't even seen the movie! she just liked the song. Anyway, now this is my favorite movie forever, because of that.

This is my favorite Hisaishi track. The cheerful and bouncy first half is like the beautiful sunny day, and represents all the summer activities. Then everything comes full circle at 4:00 where everything quiets down like the setting sun. The lower key version of the main melody from 4:24 gives the sense of lying down at night, still awake, thinking back on the day, then slowly drifting off to sleep as you look forward to it once more. This is the kind of music I would definitely listen to on a long train ride or drive through the country side, or walking along rural landscapes.

I recently got alone for over 5 days due to work. In my first day of being home alone, without my family around. While checking the TV for movies, I noticed this movie between the others. Cooked me a delicious dish, asked my friend about it since he likes Takeshi Kitano movies. He recommended it to me. And jeez, I must say I got a great experience watching it. I laughed, I felt moved, I cried and in the end enjoyed the Journey. All the characters specially Kikujiro had their own charm. Is a must see movie in my opinion. 100% would watch it again, and I hope to watch it with someone special or with my family. My family that I love so much with all my heart.

I remember going to see this at the movie theater with my dad in Japan when I was nine years old. Its interesting how life plays out. Shortly after seeing this movie (3 years later), my dad started a new life leaving my mom, brother, and myself in the US (him returning back to Japan). I never noticed the similarity this movie had with my own life. Im 29 now and I wonder if I’ll ever have my Kikujiro moment...

Don’t be sorry. It actually brought my relationship with my mom and my brother much closer. You know, I’ve thought about it a lot throughout the years in terms of trying to find him... Part of me wants to but the other part tells me not to. I guess if I did go and try to find him, I would like to find/notice him from a distance without him noticing me. I wouldn’t want to alter anything. Kind of like the movie.. :)
