God, I love this movie so much. It was my first exposure to Kitano. He's one of my inspirations to become a filmmaker.

I watched this film during my Japanese class in highschool. I could never remember the name, but that song Summer I never forgot. This movie was such a good film and even 20 years later I still think of it and FINALLY found the name of it after all this time when I saw it around 2002. It was a great story and I am still amazed how the film industry as whole changed to now CGI messes with weak plots. I am so glad I found this film again as I have been wanting to watch it again.

For me, this memories of watching this with my father before he got very old, and my mother, who got dementia and has lost all her memory and does not remember...but I do...We watched this movie together so many times, just me my mom my dad. We didnt have a lot, but this movie for however long it is, we had that time together to laugh and cry together before life moved on. I miss those days and wont get them back, but just hope the memory always stays.

This film literally broke it watching it for the first time back in 2012 - it still packs a major punch to the gut to this very day.

I saw this movie and it made me feel very nostalgic about many things, it made me remember something about the innocence of my childhood and the tenderness that it inspires, the values of friendship and how the cruelty of life is perceived through the eyes of an innocent child, he may seem silly and lazy to some but they do not know the point of view how the Japanese see things, especially in movies, just like you don't have to be Japanese for what they want to imply since all humans are different but also the same in many things if it left me a depression, although it is a wonderful movie.

Mediocre movies show you nothing. Good movies show you something. Masterpieces makes you LIVE through something. This movies made me live through plenty of invaluable experiences.
