I have been a fan of Nancy Meyers movies since I was a kid and her movies play such a hug role in my design style (even when I don't realized it). In today's video I am refreshing out kitchen for summer, and talking about how her movies have inspired me. I'm sharing my tips for recreating that signature look in your own home!

I know we aren’t to covet others things; however…oh to have a kitchen such as yours. Mine is so very small and only about 3’ of countertop. Meg Ryan's apt in "You've got mail" was the interior design that I swon over, then and now. I also love Julia Childs early kitchen while living in France in the movie "Julie and Julia." It's fun to know, like myself, that others enjoy movie sets just as much, if not more, than the movie itself.

I just stumbled upon your video when I saw "Nancy Meyer's movie inspiration ". My top favorite movies of hers are IT'S COMPLICATED AND SOMTHING'S GOTTA GIVE. Those houses are amazing. I am distracted too by the houses!! I watch those 2 movies over and over again. My husband thinks I am a bit crazy. LOL The HOLIDAY I watch every year. Again different types of homes but each beautiful in their own right.

Hello Carin, I, too, love her movies. I think the Father of the Bride house is my most favorite. (I also wanted to look like Diane Keaton in that film lol). We live very near that house in So Ca. It is in a neighborhood of equally lovely 1940's homes. There is just something so comforting and cozy about the interiors. Films from the '40s often have that same vibe (perhaps her inspiration). I also love all the interiors of those movies. I didn't realize it but I guess i have been inspired by those without even trying. I also love the interiors from anna green gables. The original. And I love your blue danube. I have a large set that I inherited from my aunt and we use them for everyday dishes. I had heard several years back to not put away grandma's china but just get it out and use it. This is not grandma's china but it is family and we love it.

I bought the rod system at IKEA several years ago. It has mounting brackets that are screwed into the wall. I have seen where people have used heavy duty adhesive tabs to hold the brackets to the wall. I think it would just be determined by what you want to hang on it and how heavy it would be. My blue Danube dishes are passed down to me from my grandparents and parents…as well as some of my Currier and Ives pieces. The rest I have found in antique stores and thrift stores. I just pick them up as I find them (when they are reasonably price). Thank you so much for watching!!

They are a classic choice for sure! The subway tiles were there when we bought the home, and I was definitely happy for them...I'm just looking to bring a bit more warmth into the space and I think the stone backsplash would be really beautiful.

I am not a big movie watcher, but I can still relate because I have been influenced by the Walton's home in the series. If I could show you pictures, you would see the influence. I might not would have been willing to admit that if not for Anita from the Whispering Pines Homestead showing how she was influenced by the Walton home in her kitchen. It sort of legitimized it for me. Lol At any rate, your kitchen is very cozy and comfortable and I could absolutely live there!
