That "private" road to Dionysio is interesting and a bit post-apocalyptic looking. Definitely makes you feel you are doing some form of infiltration when you walk or ride it. Interestingly, I walked along it with some friends many years ago the first time I went to Dionysio and spotted what I am pretty sure was a cougar kill site. There was dried blood on the tarmac and bloody drag marks, bits of fur that looked like deer and something had been dragged into the bushes at the roadside, from the way the vegetation had been disturbed. I didn't go into the forest to investigate, though- we kept walking.

Yeah it was definitely an odd experience with dogs barking in the distance, etc. And wow, that sounds like a very wild scene. Good call on keeping walking 😂

Galiano is very special.

Definitely agreed. I try to appreciate how special it is but I often feel like I don't have the full spectrum of capacity to do that. Glad you liked the video.

How long did it take you to bike all the way to Dionisio? Do you think it’s possible to do in one day?
@JordanVegBike3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes it's super doable in one day. It's maybe 30km max from Sturdies Bay, so like 2.5-4 hours of cycling depending on your speed.

Hey Jordan, I would really appreciate it if you deleted this trip from youtube. The thing is, is Dionisio Provincial Park is water access only. Even though there is a sneaky road to get to the park, the people who live on Galiano have been land locked for over a decade with the developer of that area. When this is settled the developer could easily be a dick and lock everyone out of that road to the park. I have been at that junction where it says private land, do not enter talking to private security about all this and they're pissed. As well, in the bikepacking community it's an unsaid rule to not post anything about this park. Lastly, there is a water taxi that can take you to and from the park. PLEASE don't ruin it for the rest of us just for some likes on your channel.

Hi CB thanks for your comment. I think we have different philosophies and ethical frameworks for this as well as a different understanding of the local political and land use issues here. I also don't believe in unsaid rules about keeping spots secret as it is elitist and hinders the accessibility of public (stolen) land. Thanks though for sharing your perspective.

@@JordanVegBike Wow, you missed my point entirely. This isn't an elitist, secret spot, it's a provincial park that you can look up on the internets and it's for everyone to enjoy. My problem is the way you got there, which is illegal considering this park is water access only (there's even a taxi that will take you there), then you broadcast it to everyone on your channel. I really appreciate how you don't understand how things work, do to your ignorance. It's not a perspective, it's how people in the bikepacking community have been doing it for years, before electric bikes. Doink, who cares right.

I don't have any interest in helping private landowners block access to public (again, stolen) land. If that is what the "bikepacking community" is into (as well as hating on ebikes for some reason) then have fun with that but it's not my thing.
