Tried Drops Belle this spring - a mix of cotton, viscose and linen. So far - I think - I found my perfect summer yarn 🌟

I think I found the perfect Italian summer yarn: Safari by Mafil. 50% cotton 50% linen, fresh, soft and easy to knit with (compared to most cotton/linen based yarns). Highly recommended!
@OrsaMakes2 жыл бұрын
That sounds wonderful. I've not heard of Mafil, so will have to check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I struggle with plant based fibers especially cotton. But I did find a brand O-Wool Balance, it is 50% wool & 50% cotton. This is not as hard on my hands. It has the soft squishiness of wool with the comfort of cotton for the summer.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'm going to have a proper summer yarn search this weekend. Plant fibres appeal to me, but seem so tricky to get right.

Thank you for sharing your upcoming projects ! Very inspiring. Can't wait to see you cast the Eowyn blouse, it's going to be lovely ! 🥰 I love the tees, they both look so refined. If I may suggest, I once made a tee-shirt (it was a free pattern, can't remember the name - as always) with cotton yarn, the yarn is called "100% coton bio" by Bergère de France and it is fabulous to have this knit for summer. This yarn produce a fabric that keeps you cool, it's soft to the touch and the yarn has a slight shine. One of my favourite plant-based yarn ! It is a bit on the thicker side though (they recommend 3mm needles but 4mm seems much more appropriate), but I love to wear it. Cotton is also certified GOTS. (Specs : it's a 4 ply yarn category 2 fine) Definitely going to cast on one or two patterns you've shown to knit alongside this summer ! 🌸

Thank you for watching! I'm so excited about the Eowyn Blouse too - it's so cute. Oh, I will have to check out the Cotton Bio - it sounds lovely. Let me know if you decide to cast on any of the patterns - I love to see what everyone is making.

Hi there!! I loved working with illimani Sabri II, it’s a worsted weight 85 cotton 15 alpaca! It’s quite a bit softer than pure cotton. Each skein has 200 meters I believe!

Oh that sounds lovely. I’ll have to see if anywhere stocks here. Never thought about an alpaca cotton mix (sounds gorgeous!)

Another great episode! :) I have one thing I need to mention: I think the cami no 5 in merino is going to be HOT! I've been wanting to cast it on too and I'm gonna use the KFO cotton merino or the pure silk :) Just wanted to share! Of course just do whatever you want!! (it's just that I recently finished a top without a high neck in KFO merino and that one is hot as well)
@OrsaMakes2 жыл бұрын
Ah, oh no! If it’s too hot I’ll have to save it as a layering piece for spring and autumn then. Thanks for the heads up! I really want to try their cotton merino too.

@@OrsaMakes Hi! i made swatch to see how the yarn will go if i knit it with 3,5 needles and made ribbing 1 by 1, after that i started half fishermans rib and it looks so nice. Wery light weight and petite stich but very fast to knit 😊
@OrsaMakes2 жыл бұрын
@@TKopra Oh great to hear! It looks so interesting I might have to try and get some for September. I wonder if it would be any good held double?
@TKopra2 жыл бұрын
@@OrsaMakes I tried that too and it does look nice knitted bouble, atleats 1 by 1 rib. Fishermans rib was too thick for my liking even tough it was super light and soft. I'm making the cardigan beginning of this fall so i can send few pics in intagram if you like 😊

I am currently working on my second Peacock Tee and it is not difficult at all! I knit my first one in two strands of holst Coast. And for my second one I am using drops belle, it's the same composition as the sandnes one but a lot cheaper! 😉
@OrsaMakes2 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear the Peacock Tee is easier than it looks! Sometimes lace can be a little intimidating. And thanks for the yarn recommendations - I've really wanted to try both Coast and Belle. The Sandnes is a little pricey, but lots of people seem to like it, so I may give it a go.

So much inspiration in this video! I love it ❤ The Peacock Tee has been on my queue for a long while. I think the pattern doesn't have short rows shaping though so I think I want to do some research on how to add them in, because I do think I like garments with short row shaping for the neckline (they're more comfortable). The Thea Top has been on my needles for a little bit but I decided to frog that because I didn't like that it wasn't turning out as flowy(?) and drapey(?) as I'd seen in the pictures. It *think* the top shown in the official pictures might've been in sport weight yarn (the pattern recommends either sport or worsted, with the same gauge, so I would imagine the sport weight version to be drapier). I might try again in the future... The EDDA market bag is lovely! It actually comes also in a knitted version, which I've made very recently (I couldn't be bothered learning to crochet but I really wanted a market bag lol). I'm using it to store a couple of small knitting project bags when I go to the park or at a friend's house. Not sure mine would be sturdy enough for me to take it to the store and fill it with fruit honestly... Edit: This www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/edda-einkaufsnetz-i-gestrickt is the Ravelry page for the knitted EDDA bag if someone reading my comment is looking for it

You should totally go for the Peacock Tee too - we could always organize a knit-along! I've always wanted to but didn't know how to go about it. Hmm interesting about the short rows though. I made the Petite Knit Novice Sweater without any and it seems to fit me ok, but has more of an almost bell shape (hard to describe!) Thanks for all your notes on the Thea Top and Edda bag. I wanted to try the bag after you showed me it. I reckon I will try the crochet, but there is the knitted backup if I get too lazy. I'll try to swatch some yarn for the Thea top and see if I like the drape. If not then I might try one of her other tops. She has some lovely designs.

Sandnes Line is a lovely yarn. I knitted my peacock tee in that yarn last year. I don't find it hard or scratchy. Drops Belle is quite similar.
