Your wife gave you a nice present in the boxed 1776, I read it in paperback quite a while ago, but that cased one looks tempting. Yes, it's great to get to the immigrant and always fun to find a maiden name.

Yeah, she did good with that one. I was pretty excited when she brought it home. It is a wonderful book. McCullough does a great job telling a story and making it entertaining. Thanks for watching. Have a great week.

Nice answers. I read sports books as a kid but largely drifted away from that when I drifted away from playing team sports. Not sure why -- the subject still interests me. Ball Four sounds like one I'd enjoy, although it's odd to think of folks being legitimately shocked by the revelations you describe. Different time I suppose. I've had a casual interest in genealogy, but nothing like the level you've pursued. A few years ago, I stumbled on knowledge that one part of my lineage wasn't as previously advertised. It wouldn't hurt to try pursuing some updated information there, even if only for potential medical/genetic insights, but truth be told, I just don't care at present. Maybe someday. I definitely hear you about fighting to reconcile America's history regarding slavery with its purported ideals. I think the treatment of the native peoples of these continents might disturb me even more than slavery (shoot, more than a few WERE enslaved), but I suppose it's ridiculous to place massive national atrocities in competition. Thanks for the video, and have a good one.

Thanks Bryan. Hope all is well with you. Ball Four was unique in its time because of its tell-all nature. Major sports figures were a bit like the politicians. The press left them alone. You should read about the stuff that Babe Ruth used to do and it never made it in the papers. All of the sports columnists knew about it (his drinking & carousing) but they chose not to report it. There is one story of him running through the reporters on the train butt naked with a woman chasing him with a knife. Never made the papers. Funny how times change. Thanks for watching. Have a great day.

@@billruttenberg Well, why in the world would they write about humdrum tosh like that? I mean, who the hell hasn't been there, right? 🤣

Hi Bill. Remember Dove well, from both the magazine articles and the book.

Hey Mark! Yeah, I thought it was a great book. It is one that I will definitely read again one of these days. I also want to read the book about the Australian girl who sailed around the world by herself and broke the time record for solo sailing. I watched the movie a month ago and thought it was interesting. Have you read it?? (Sorry, her name is escaping me.) Thanks for watching. Have a great week.
