I liked seeing Jacqueline Bisset and Raquel Welch being part of this year's summer under the stars and glad I was able to see more of Garbo's silent movies which are rarely seen any longer except on TCM. Lawrence Harvey was also a nice addition as had not seen many of his British roles.

TCM is not what it used to be; I am disappointed. One of the many problems is that this particular year is Ava Gardner’s centennial and she should have had one full day. They just don’t do much research and it shows; always favoring the same stars over and over.

I understand that TCM is all about the classics. But I read through every film for the month and there weren’t even a handful more recent than the late 50s/very early 60s. I think at this point movies from the 70s and 80s - being 40-50 years old could certainly count. The month where you did a decade a day of each week brought me back to even checking TCM for film options. You found CLASSICS from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s … it was amazing. You could have thrown in actors who are in films from the last 40 years as well. Perhaps one’s even still alive and acting!?!? Please include more recent films in future months. All I am requesting is a mixture.

I truly hope TCM doesn't take your advice. It's easy to find the types of films you're requesting on cable television or on the myriad of streaming services offered. However, the vast majority of streaming services do not carry the classics from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Look no further than Netflix as a prime example. Their selection of classic cinema is slim to none. TCM is keeping the Old Hollywood classics alive. Most film scholars define motion pictures in two eras: Old Hollywood before the end of the production code (1920s-1960s) and New Hollywood, which is 1970s-present day. TCM has always favored showing films pre 1970, because that is considered the "classic/Golden Age of Hollywood." If we start redefining what classic cinema is, we will have movies from the 2010s, 2000s, 90s, etc being shown regularly. And that sounds like exactly what you're advocating in favor of. But that is not the original intent of TCM.

TCM offers plenty of movies from more recent decades. But mostly they show movies from the "classic" era which most film scholars define as movies made during the studio system (from about 1920 to about 1970). Movies from that era are hard to find anywhere else so I hope they keep it that way.
