People don’t understand what we go through as black women. I too faced crippling social anxiety for years and still face it sometimes to this day. I used to use alcohol to mask it and picked up a horrible habit - this came, of course, after I visited the doctor for anxiety meds only to be shot down. This entire decade has been stolen with fear over something that could’ve been prevented very early on. I feel for Summer. She’s literally in between a rock and a hard place. Having horrible anxiety and a career that just won’t put up with less than perfect. I pray she’s able to overcome. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I think the first thing is that studio recording is the standard version so the singer can't really improvise much on their vocal. And the second thing is just the engineer tuned the instrument part for too loud in studio imo.

My anxiety cripples me too. It's held me back in my life so much. Relationships, careers, friendships. I'm essentially a recluse. Music and prayer gets me through alot. I admire Summer for being honest because us Black and Brown girls go through enough without having also dealing with the debilitating anguish that comes with being told "its not that bad", "boss up", "get over it". Its a lot man.

I think this video is so powerful and beautiful. It shows and highlights the complexities and uniqueness of Black Women. So many times we have this fixated idea of what a Black Women looks like. Not only is Summer Walker herself and not only did she do a phenomenal job, she gave hope to other young women and women in general who have social anxiety. She allowed her vulnerability to bless someone else. In spite of how she was feeling she was able to do the thing she loved to do, which is singing. I love this video wowowowwww.
