I have the same pool. I bought shut off valves so I can clean out the skimmer basket without water flowing everywhere. Best investment.

When ur changing your basket that black disk thats in the bottom of ur pump thats what that is used for..to block the water coming into the skimmer so u can do maintenece

how do you vacuum your pool? I bought an intex sand filter this year and modified the connectors to attach to my summer waves pool but I can't seem to figure out a way to vacuum it. When using the the square plate that came with the summer waves skimmer I lose suction.

The black disk is only to cover the pool water to the skimmer im the pool..the one u have in you hand should be on it use the plumbers tape.
