Summer Window Box | Updating Drip Irrigation 🌿💦 How's It Growing?

Hi Everyone - Today I'm creating a window box that mirrors the same plants used in my hanging basket on the patio. The only change is the addition of Proven Winners Salvia "Unplugged So Blue" I got those from a great source for annuals online, Romence Gardens! I always wear a bandana in the garden, it helps when sweat keeps rolling down my face or on the back of my neck. Don’t let anyone ever tell you, gardening isn’t hard work, but so satisfying. I’m QUITE a bit older than you and I’m taking on an area in my yard that has become over run with raspberry bushes and let me tell you that is a job! Hopefully I can get it looking somewhat decent this year, but I know it’s going to be a struggle for many years to come because of all of those raspberry roots. My husband and ex son in law dug in a small plastic pond in that area and because I let that area go, you couldn’t see it because of the raspberry bushes. I got it all scooped out and filled with clean water and I found a frog/ toad enjoying it yesterday, that was so exciting and it made all of the exhausting work worthwhile. Now that I’m retired I’m going to be tackling many areas in our three plus acre yard, God willing. I planted many things over the years that we’ve lived here, but life got in the way of me taking proper care of it, so it’s going to be a struggle for awhile, but at least I will have something to look forward to, if the weather would just cooperate. Thank you for showing us your beautiful garden, you keep me inspired to keep on moving on in my endeavors 💚🙃

Such a beautiful window box display, does the water drip onto the wall at all or just onto the ground? How do you get the drip line to connect to a water source? my hose spout is all the way behind my house, but I want a drip system for my front garden.

Hi there!! With this one, no. But that is a fantastic suggestion. These windows swing open so I would have a hard time not pulling them back on plants. Also makes for a dilemma because I would actually enjoy swinging open the windows and don’t because of the window box. 😂 Fair trade though, it looks so pretty from inside too.

Every time I have tried planting pin cushion flowers, they eventually get covered by aphids. For that reason, I know longer plant them. How do you keep the aphids from them?
