Most generators do a weekly or monthly self test where they run for several minutes. I don't know if that was the case here. Maybe someone will do a follow up.

Correct. Also, once the power to the house is cut off (by fire, or fire dept) generator comes on…..unless disabled.

I'm shooting video along with high res stills. Switching the camera back and forth between both modes. Absolutely not a waste of my time at all. Works very well for me.
