Yuck I dated one of those types. For 1 year, and then no contact 1 year, and back again for another almost entire year!! It was hell. Immediate love-bombing, saying he loved me within 1 week, move in with him within the month (I was just back home for summer between tradeschool) and convincing me of all these other weird things, extremely jealous, way too protective of me even walking, then talking down to me/my looks, apologizing for his behaviour blaming it on his childhood, constantly gaslighting, abusing, sexually emotionally. Glad you got out soon, these things will really mess your brains and trust level up. Honestly easier to clear up a STD than abusive brain re-wiring. I'd take the chlamydia in a heartbeat over that. Also amazing work on facing the trauma spaces head-on. If you can do it and stay in a relatively calm mind-set, bring a friend, only go so close at first etc. That works super well to rewire your brain!

That guy could have undiagnosed and untreated borderline personality disorder From what you described it sounds VERY similar to that They can exhibit both symptoms similar to narcissism and also bipolar, but it's like its own thing and the mood swings can be extreme and switch within a couple hours. And yeah that extreme love bombing and idealisation just to play hot and cold is very BPD Whatever it is, sounds like he needs help. Hope you have found your own healing from the situation too
