I have never ever had a single pimple on my face and almost never on the rest of my body, either. And I am 19 yrs old. I do not understand that struggle but I hope that people who struggle with it learn to love themselves. And remember that you are not gonna have it forever! and you are still beautiful with acne, that does not define who you are. Also remember that even with clear skin, people still have insecurities. So we must learn to love ourselves in every stage of life. Sending lots of love!

Agree whatever it is, when it's on face it destroys you mentally. I'd advise to try treat it younger & don't wait cos with each flare up it leaves damage. Wish you well. I was on accutane back in march of 2019 and had to stop taking it on may 15th 2019. The day I realized my health was getting compromised. I developed extreme anxiety, insomnia and depression. It was surreal. I had panic attacks a couple times a week and cried out of helplessness. I remember reading the warnings online about mental health issues undergoing this drug and I just kinda laughed it off because I was desperate to clear my cystic acne. On top of the horrific mindset I had experienced, I developed painful IBS. Like...bleeding out of my asshole cuz even my stool wasnt lubricated cuz accutane dries the body inside and out. Did a ton of research before taking this drug and lemme tell you...This drug is poison. I remember after a mental breakdown and during a sleepless night I helplessly layed there thinking of how far I've gone to get clear skin and so much damage I had done to my body. It took 3 solid months for the side effects to wear off. I continued nursing school 2019 of august and here I am 2020 and still have acne but I'm in a healthy mindset now. After going to several dermatologists I have come to the conclusion that they genuinely dont care about their patients. I'm thinking of seeing an endocrinologist and do some intense blood work to see what I can do to change my lifestyle to cure my hormonal acne in a healthy fulfilling manner. Dermatologists will put you on spironolactone, antibiotics, birth control which is very harmful to the body and mind and lastly accutane the worst of them all. Not trying to scare you I hope you have a better experience!! I sure as hell didnt! Lol!

So actually the olive oil is an amazing tip. I had a bad allergic reaction that left my skin with a rash that was like dry and patchy with puffy spots for MONTHS. My cousin had perfect skin so I asked her what she used and turns out it was olive oil. I did her routine and it saved my skin. Even now if I’m dry or having bad breakouts it will literally HEAL me. Rub it on dry skin then steam your face (I turn on hot water and then sit over it with a towel over me head to make a little fort to keep the steam in) and then dab off the excess with a clean towel. That’s it. That’s the whole routine. It will legit heal you and it’s antibacterial. I get compliments all the time and it has helped me so much. I don’t use it exclusively but whenever I do it really revives my face. Honestly you should try it! Will help with the dryness too!

honestly accutane isn’t as “serious” as people think. The worst part about it is the dry skin and dry lips. I was on it about 9 months ago and the first month is brutal because you start breaking out a lot. After the first month, it clears fast. I was on it for about 6 months and i’ve been off of it for about 3 and a half months. I started breaking out this month but the acne clears a lot faster. I don’t have cystic acne so when the pimples go away, i get stuck with red marks for a couple months. Best advice is to treat acne immediately, don’t wait. I had acne for 2 years and didn’t do anything about it because I thought it would go away. Do not have this mindset and go get it treated asap.

Yes, i waited for so long too and tried a lot of things to get rid of acne but the only thing that helped me for good was accutane. For me my acne was the biggest complex and now when i have clear skin my confidence has increased soo much

Agreed 100%. I went to a dermatologist when my acne was worsening and I’d put on tons of topical creams only for it to give me a temporary fix/ultimately stop working. That’s when I knew I needed to go on accutane because of the endless battle of trying to clear up my acne. I’ve been off of accutane now for almost two months and I feel much more confident now.

This is insane I am on the exact same timeline as you. Had pretty much clear skin my whole life and then in August started randomly breaking out and it’s progressively gotten worse since. I'm 37 had the same skin as you and suffered for so long as a young adult. I get it. Went on Accutane as an 18/19 year old and could only stay on it for a few months because my liver enzymes started to get affected. Till this day I am healing my liver from that drug! 20 years later! My skin cleared up for a while on Accutane, but as soon as I got off of it vola acne came back. I completely changed my diet, stopped eating sugar, gluten and only organic food. It changed my life and cleared my skin. I wish more people tried diet before Accutane. Diet isn't a quick fix, it's long term fix of your entire system, but it can save you so much problems later in life by not taking that drug. Accutane is very high levels of Vitamin A as well, know to heal the skin (so take a natural vitamin A supplement) Your liver and gut get detroyed on Accutane. Hence the gut and depression correlation. I don't judge anyone who decides to take it, because I was there, I totally get it. Acne sucks and you'll do anything to make yourself feel better. I get that. But in the end you want to be naturally healthy. Your skin is suffering because your gut is suffering. I also recently learned that Cetaphil is one of the worst cleansers. Pretty sure Cerave is a bit better. Look at the Ewg website for breakdown on ingredients. I'm so happy that you are feeling better. I hope you have continued health and happiness.

I’ve already had acne for 3 years now and I was only 10 or 11 when it started. It really does make ur confidence go down. I’ve had times where I would cry by just looking at myself in the mirror as well as hating myself for the way my skin looks. Although I still cry looking at myself sometimes but right now I am a little more hopeful that one day my skin will clear up. I’m only 13 and my mom won’t let me take accutane, but I hope that one day I will be able to cure acne in natural ways. (Also all that advice that people give you on acne only work sometimes, I’ve been washing my face 2 times a day, eating healthy meaning no food from fast foods, no sugar and no snacks also exercising more than 1 hour a day, I wear no make up and never had and I still haven’t been able to clear my acne). I hope that me and everyone else who suffers from acne will one day will be able to wake up feeling confident and with clear skin.

I can not get over how similar our experiences were and all the the things you said you gained from the experience is exactly how I see it now. I was 20 when my skin randomly broke out having never experienced anything other that a spot here or there. Experiencing severe acne was a massive struggle, mentally and physically and originally I was afraid of accurate, but it’s what cleared my skin too. So glad to see you out the other side. Feels like forever when you’re in it but it really does come to an end❤️

I was also on accutane and just got off last month. I really felt you on the last bit when you said how being in the bad state may lead you to being unkind to others as well as yourself. I definitely struggled mentally during the process and regret some things I said and how I reacted to things as well, but I would also say I wish I had some support from friends. If you know anyone on accutane, try to be there for them and try not to take everything that they say literally bc most of the time they have a difficult time filtering their thoughts and emotions (at least I did).

I did accutane (known as isotretanoin in the UK) and it helped me so much! I tried birth control pills, antibiotics, tropical treatments, over the counter products then finally Accutane. Made my skin really dry and sensitive to the point where I even scratched myself accidentally with my nails I’d cut and bleed. Looking after your skin on accutane is so important but worth it if your acne is consistent, hormonal and leaves bad scarring

Switch from coffee to herbal teas. Just avoid toxins in food. You'll get so much better. Your skin will be so much better. Your acne is trying to convey to you something's wrong with your body. I've been looking forward to this video. I've been struggling with severe acne for months now and am on 3 different medications. It's finally gotten way better but the scars are terrible. I was so afraid to go on accutane because I've heard such horror stories about the side effects but it works so well for so many people.. I'm still considering it. If you have any suggestions for scars, I would really appreciate it. And just wanted to say, thank you so so much for being so open about the mental toll something like this can have on a person. It's really hard to relate with everyone around me because they don't know or understand what it feels like to go through the emotions that come with severe acne. It seems dramatic to say it's one of the hardest things I've ever gone through because I know people go through so much worse but mentally it really can put you in a dark place...and even physically the pain my face and skin felt throughout this was so draining. I just really commend you for being so open about this because I know the feelings you were going through and I cannot even imagine getting the courage to still post and even talk openly about it. You are a true inspiration and I would love to talk more about your journey as I am still on mine.
