Help me my fiddle leaf fig the leafs are turning brown. I've had the plant for about a month. I had one before this one I took it back to nursery they told me it was burnt from to much sun. The window i had it in front of the sun doesn't come in that window because it's shaded by trees. The new on is not as close to window but still turning brown. Any suggestions 🤔.

I have two growing outside in Florida, under a canopy of oaks. One is about 8 foot tall. The other was about 10 foot tall, and it was blown over by a tornado. The root ball was sitting there, part of it in the ground. The plant was completely horizontal. I couldn't get anyone to help me lift it up, so I gave up. That was several years ago. The plant has not only grown horizontally, but all of the side branches have grown vertically, giving the whole plant a look of a forest of figs, rather than a fallen tree. No one notices unless I point it out. It turned into an attractive accident.

And here we are 365 days later. So much has happened in those days, practically turning my world upside down, and that was before the pandemic. The one faithful and constant that I could trust was your daily posting. When I woke up today it was the first thing I thought of: Today is the last day. I learned tons, am now obsessive about Rhipsalis--I seem to have chosen one of the hardest to find plants in Canada. I often refer back to your posts because` I can easily search for what I want. Thank you so much Summer for giving so much of your time to create these videos.

I did miss seeing this last plant of 365 Days of Plants, but I have two of these, the one is more like a bush and the other is more like a tree that I got as a very small cutting, the small one I thought I had killed it, but I fussed over it and it came back and is just the cutest little plant. I totally enjoyed this wonderful series and all of the work that went into it, it was for sure a labor of love on your part. I used to grow my fiddle leaf fig inside (I live in Germany), but ever since my trip to Taiwan, where I saw these trees grow in the wild under full sun, I started growing it outside where it gets full sun from around 11am to 7pm, and it looks waaaaay happier than when it used to grow inside :) (I of course take it back inside during the winter months). Many sources say it doesn't do well under full sun and to only give it filtered light, but they do grow under full sun in the wild and thrive :)

We're here! 365 out of 365. Oh my God I can't believe. Also, personally one of the things that have helped me to become a better indoor plantkeeper is just putting my faith in these roommates that I coexist with. I used to proudly call myself as the "owner" of my plants and having that mindset made me believe that I thought I knew better and knew more about my plants than they do themselves. After seeing the 10th plant die, I just told myself and them "Hey, you know what - you live here, you share this space with me, you grow as fast or as slow as you want and I'll help you and I'll care for you when you want and need me to". Having that change in mindset just boosted the growth of my plants because at the end of the day, they're creatures of their own and I shouldn't exert authority over them! That was a long sharing, but thank you Summer for planting (see what I did there) the passion within me to start my own plantkeeping journey. Your humility is admirable and the way you choose to share your knowledge instead of calling them the gospel is one of the many reasons why I have been hooked since the beginning.

All good things must come to an end. Isn't that the saying? Loved the series. Now you can make a 365-video playlist to be binged. I just got my first FLF. I got the small, compact cultivar called "little fiddle" (I think it's also called 'bambino'). I watch it like it's an infant. I'm so nervous after hearing all the stories about them being temperamental. I've had it about a month and so far, so good. But boy do I worry about it!

I’ve killed 3. I put the 4 th one I put outside and told it , “ ill water you and feed you but it’s up to you to live or die”. It had like 5 brown ugly leaves. Now it’s down to 2 brown ugly leaves BUT it has NEW leaves coming out. I live in California in the Central Valley zone 9. That being said it doesn’t seem to be an easy plant to grown or maintain unless you have the ABSOLUTE IDEAL conditions for it.

I have a 10 ft. fig at home and you are SO right about just having to know your plant. These guys are specific, based on what area of your home they live in and what temperature it has been that week. I have mine in an 18" cylinder right now and want to keep it in a planter 20" or less. Have you root pruned your fig to stunt growth?
@iamziming4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I got a 12" fiddle not long ago and I found the soil is draining a little bit too fast since it has a lot of bark chips in it, also I feel the soil has shrunk and pulled away from the edge of the nursery pot, so there's a gap between the soil and the pot. Should I repot it? And what size should I use? I can see some roots on top of the soil so I think it's a bit root bound...
@lienecarter64112 жыл бұрын
Did you try to propitiate the cuttings? I was planning on cutting mine in half when it hits the ceiling and propagating the top into a new one. Mine is growing as a column now so i expect it to stem out when i cut it.
