Just watched your video. Fabulous. I have inherited a sickly fiddle - named him (Jack) - getting him acclimated to his new surroundings; then I think I will do the Leca process. I also was gifted a new baby fiddle (Fred) from Trader Joe’s - I think I will now do the leca process today; Wish me luck. I also have a huge fiddle doing well in soil (Big Bertha) and smallish established one (Boris) in soil; I will leave them alone. I ❤️❤️❤️ your variegated ones. One day I will make the plunge - maybe an early birthday present for myself (November Mama I am). Thank you for sharing your LOVE for your FIDDLES !!!

Nora, thanks for all your wonderful information. I took my Fiddle Leaf out of the soil and put it in Leca, thanks to your guidance. It has now been two days and some of the leaves are still a little droopy, similar to when it needs watering. Will the plant take a few more days to recover from the shock? I'm scared l will loose it but it is looking very healthy and have followed all your steps.

I am fairly new to Leca and fiddle leaf figs. I have a six foot tall fiddle fig and decided to try it in Leca. I removed the soil and did the long method. I lost almost all of the leaves after a couple of weeks. I don’t know if it was too mature to change over or if it was the long method it didn’t like. I’m going to try taking it out of the clone x clone solution and put it in Leca with foliage focus in the reservoir and see if maybe it didn’t like sitting in the solution. I will give it time to see if it will come back. I have had good success with my other plants. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I am hooked on Leca now.

I wish my leaves were big and floppy! They're getting bigger but the plants were extremely juvenile when I got them at the beginning of the season. Across 4 growth points I've had 17 new leaves with each being slightly bigger than the last and then my Bambino has also got about a half dozen leaves from one growth point in that same time. My leaves are really close together. I don't know if the stem/internode will lengthen or not or if I should thin the leaves a bit. I think the nodes being so close is preventing the floppy look. Though, it could just be the age of the plants 🤔 I love your fiddles, I think you're the only person I follow who has variegated! It's really beautiful and the colours remind me of my pearls and Jade pothos, but giant! 😍

I don't pinch the whole bud, I keep about 30% of the bud, and that develops into more branches. I cut it with sharp scissors. My record is 4 new branches. Cannabis growers use the same technique ;)

What is your humidity level like in your house? Because the most success I’ve had with transferring to LECA is when I can put it in my bag or cabinet where it gets high humidity, warmth and light, while it adjusts and grows water roots in the Leca. Obviously, I don’t have a tent or anything big enough to do that with my fiddle figs. So I’m afraid to try it. But mine are so crispy on the edges! They would probably love leca if I can bring myself to try it. But I killed a lot of plants before I realized that humidity was such a big deal in the transition. At least at my house where humidity can be 20%. If I run my high-power humidifiers nonstop in the room, I can get it up to 40% max. Then I go out of town which happens a lot and my adult son tries his best but inevitably doesn’t put a fire in the woodstove or refill the humidifiers and my poor plants are in the cold dry air!
@TheLecaQueen8 ай бұрын
my general humidity is about 55% in the none plant areas. Yours is quite low compared to mine.

Hello. Just wondering if after taking the dirt away you soaked the fiddle leaf in your special sauce to get water roots. By the sounds of it you didn't. Does that mean you had to flush the dirt roots away over time from the Leca.
@TheLecaQueen2 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I did not soak it. It went straight into leca. The flushing process does get rid of the roots that have sloughed off.

Hi Nora, very interesting. How long does your Leca experience last? I think your pots are very good and I will design them that way. Do you also pour the water into the pot from above or only into the planter? Does the Leca always have to be completely wet? How high does the water level have to be? I have no experience. Since my English is not so good, I wrote via google translator. Greetings from Leipzig!
@TheLecaQueen2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words and for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! Te leca at the bottom always has to be wet, the one at the top not really. I pour the solution from the top sometimes, I have no special rules about it. The level of the water should not be too high. I will show you all this in my series on growing plants in leca. Keep an eye out for it.

@TheLecaQueen Жыл бұрын
The first one I did I did not use the long method, but after that I do the long method for a few weeks. Note that they will not get the lovely fuzzy white roots. They do not roll like that! I do the long method just to get them used to being moved out of soil then move to leca. Make sure lots of light.

My first Fiddle gave me anxiety attacks so I called it Fickle and she looked half dead. After 3 months I threw it in my garden bed to die, my neighbour took a cutting and Fickle came back to life! Now I have two from the mother Fickle and my anxiety has gone 😉

That isso typical of Fiddles though! Never give up on it until it is as dry as a twig with no leaves, and even then do not give up until it turns to dust!😂
