Summers over but the Llangollen canal gets even busier! [Ep 21]

It's time to cruise back along the Llangollen canal to link with the main network. We have loved our time here but since the kids have gone back to school it's suddenly got a lot busier and this video shows my cruise back along the Pontcysyllte and Chirk aqueducts and the total gridlock we endured at each turn - Better than being stuck on a motorway though!

I like being on your fire. 🙂 Life will change in winter. Whoa, aqueducts, we don't have them here in the USA, and that bit that was chipped off is frightening. But WOW the view back to the aqueduct on your walk to the pub was stupendous! You are an excellent boat handler. And so courteous even when other people are cranky, and yes when most boaters are just doing their best. Some day I might be renting a narrowboat ... I'll be courteous! And I'm learning from you. When I bought my second boat (a 40 foot 1939 wood power cruising boat) here in Washington State in the USA, my friend Dave said "don't go any faster than you want to hit something". Great advice! Yes, here too, if the cows are lying down, it's going to rain. 🙂My cousin was a dairy farmer for all his life and he swore by that. Fun stuff. Cheers and thank you both.

A suggestion (a clean one) if you need a suitable location in winter for your camera as you can't use the chimney as it gets too hot. Try turning a deep saucepan upside down and place your camera and gorilla tripod on the top which is, as you know the bottom of the saucepan. It should have sufficient weight to hold itself in place. Don't try a plastic bucket, as it'll blow away. Great vlogs!!!

Great vlog, Being blacked means some thing completely different.in Orkney, it is where the potential bride and groom are kidnapped, whisked around on a flat back vehicle and covered in molasses eggs cereal etc, and lots of booze drunk on the way. Then a quick clean and on to the local pub.

Heidi, I'm from the States. Could you maybe sometime educate us here upon just how extensive the canal system is, there in the UK? Can you go to Wales? York? Or even Scotland? I am living vicariously through you what seems a really great life. My wife and I are planning on a tour of the UK when we retire. I'd really like to experience the Canal living community. You all remind us of the close-knit Theater people that are our family. Also, I Alabama, at least, if the cows are lying down, the fish won't bite. Cheers to you and yours!

Ahoy there, the canals go all through the UK and there are canals in Scotland, however they don’t join with the main network so you need to either be craned out and taken there on a lorry or just hire a boat there …. Yes you can get to Wales, I went to Wales in these videos on the Llangollen canal. You can go from York down to London … I can’t attach a map here but if you google UK canals you will see they all join up 😃🏴‍☠️ it’s a fab way of life, but very slow 😂

Hahaa they not cowboy hats, they are sort of leather outdoor hats that’s keep the rain off… mine was from the bargain bucket at Crick boat show about 9 years ago and just doesn’t look right - I think the edges are meant to tilt up but mine don’t - hence I look like a tw at in it 😂😂

Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland. On an animal theme, whenever I see a magpie. I always say "good morning Mr. Magpie, give my love to your wife". It's supposed to bring me good luck. A lovely if busy cruise. How wonderful that there never seems to be any "canal rage"' The canal community is very special. Alway curteous, polite, friendly and willing to help a fellow boater in need. That would never happen if you all lived in houses in stead! The return journey through the tunnel and over the two aquaducts was just as exciting. Ooh yes! - love "Flow Job" - what a superb piece of music. Hi Heidi, I'm Mike from Oregon, Here in Oregon we have 1m of rain per year... about like you guys in the UK. So I have a word for you that I think you'll love...Petrichor. Petrichor is that smell you get when it rains on dry ground or for the first time in the season.

Well I'm back ,it says 2 hours so I apologise for being a bit late .First of all this is in my estimation your best video to date.I dont mind sitting on the Chimmney perhaps it will make me as hot as you *grin*Supper was good nice steak fresh fruit salad and ice cream then my daughter dropped in and we discussed how we could handle Thanksgiving due to the latest Covid regulations,we are in a fourth spike in Covid cases. My grand daughter will be home from Uni for the week end.I think we will end up in a Restaurant as we cant visit with each other.but if we are double vaxed we can do that in a restaurant. Heidi you can go anywher you like rest assured I'll still follow you .Another chore I had to do was the Bins they pick up around 730 in the morning its recycling and compostables this week next week it will be garbage. Not the week just the bin*LOL* Was working in my garden all day I have lots of lawn and many many trees about a dozen Maples a big Cedar and many conifers.The colours are just gorgeous from bright red to orange and yellow's. It means a lot of work clearing all the leaves I know from experience the order in which they shed their leaves so its an ongoing job for a couple of weeks.I have a big four feet wide sweeper which I pull with my tractor. That was a lovely shot of you and Jacki in the pub I do miss British Pubs . I loved one of your tunes particularly"Flow Job" you really are a talented musician ...no bull So Heidi dear enough about me I'll shut up and wait for your response ....btw check the fridge.Cheers from me and Canada ,take care happy cruising .Luvz ya lots XXXX

Oh Ralph I love your chats. Family is very important so a nice restaurant sounds like a good plan, just be careful and use your hand sanitiser - this plague is very scary stuff, we constantly use it after touching locks and getting our groceries etc Bloody bins are a nightmare - when I go to my parents they have so many coloured bins for different things I never know where to put anything 😂😂 your trees sound wonderful and I’m looking forwards to all the colours changing here too and hopefully capture it on my videos. Having a lovely day, are we? I always wanted to know what it's like living on a narrowboat 24/7/365. I know that I would fit right in because you get to spend a lot of time alone if you so desire or you can bring a partner or two! However, I could never live or park in a marina, traveling the 7600 kilometers and the 1569 locks would take some time and not have to worry bout the time.

Oh Gary it’s wonderful 😃 I too couldn’t live in a marina and love the freedom although good adventures are a little difficult between Oct and March due to lock repairs and winter stoppages
