well, Kris, that was a really fun camp . you wanted some pegs that wouldn't come loose, I rekon you found them😂. well, my friend , you have a great one and I will see you on the next adventure. I'm going to do some training, I picked up a door gunner harness for the door gunner on a Blackhawk helicopter and modified it to do some climbing and repelling. hopefully I won't fall😂😂😂. Dwayne

Another great wee video. I worked on an archaeological dig a few years back. The RAF used to use our trench as a landmark, and would fly over at least once a week. We would wave to them, and they would tip their wings, in order to wave back.

Nice video. Love watching these while I'm sat at work with a distant look in my eyes dreaming of the mountains! I have some of those anchors but found them quite soft. They bend about very easily.
@krisgleave7 ай бұрын
Haha love that. I miss the mountains too but so waiting on the weather to improve and this rain to pass so I can get back out. I’m surprised they have bent as they’re solid. What caused them to bend? Surely if they bent that had to be solid ground which they’re not really intended for? Curious.

Another great video Kris! With those ground anchors, do they work well in stoney ground and frozen ground or are thry mainly for soft ground? I also have one of those bladders, a great but of kit to have, especially as you say, to accompany the befree filter
@krisgleave7 ай бұрын
They’re great the bags just wish I’d bought one soon but definitely use on every camp now. Do have an awesome 1L collapsible bottle too I normally use if I don’t need as much too. Thanks a Cnoc bottle. I’d say loose ground is ideal but found was hard when I was there and went in fine as sharp and titanium. Rocky ground you’re better with thinner pegs as they go in easier.
@ExploreAboveAndBelow7 ай бұрын
Great video Kris I thoroughly enjoyed it. Those ground anchors look the business, what size are they? Hoping to get out with the Abisko 2 on Wednesday night but it's giving it blowing mad in the Mourne mountains. I hope I don't end up like the last time I tried to pitch in those conditions 😊
@krisgleave6 ай бұрын
They’re ace honestly. I’ve been speaking with the company and have some more now. For me the small are the best with size and weight but also really strong. I now have 9 small but also have 2 medium and 2 large. I intend to do a video talking about them soon. Won’t be doing strength tests or anything like that as they’re really good and it’s not needed. The Abisko 2 should be great in wind as long as you pitch head end into the wind
@ExploreAboveAndBelow6 ай бұрын
Cheers Kris, those ground anchors look the business for sure 👍🏼 I got out in the Abisko Lite 2 as planned and got it pitched quite easily considering that the conditions were terrible again. It's an impressive tent in the wind but leaked from every seam when it rained, it's been returned to Fjallraven and I'm waiting to hear from them.
@krisgleave6 ай бұрын
@@ExploreAboveAndBelow aah really? What have they said? Mine has been fine but saying that I’ve often had condensation due to winter conditions so hard to tell but don’t think mine has ever leaked
@ExploreAboveAndBelow6 ай бұрын
I haven't had any word from them, it was returned to them by Trekitt who I bought it from. I was only in the tent when it started raining and immediately leaking so had to time to make condensation. I have a three day trip starting next Friday so hopefully it'll be sorted for then 🤞🏼

@krisgleave7 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s a pretty dull summit by itself but the views are awesome. Surprised it was my first time stepping foot on the summit too having been on helvellyn about 12 times. The titan ground anchors are awesome. Mine are the small…I saw 4 come in stock and snapped them up. Medium and Large are obviously stronger but honestly they’re solid even the small ones. Fat stronger than just pegs and stack well and take up no space. I never take my delta pegs as really don’t want to carry as bulky. Really hard to get hold of these though it’s taken me 18mths

Nice vid Chris and left you a like too. If you want to lighten your Soulo a bit get Lucy Quinton to make you a vestibule only footprint, she does a cracking job and her prices are really reasonable . It will save you about 100gms too and please say i sent you :)
@krisgleave7 ай бұрын
Aah brilliant thanks for thank much appreciated. I’ve actually spoken with Lucy recently about footprints. I’m on the lookout for a sewing machine as rather than buy a made footprint from her, I’m interested in buying her kit to make your own. Just trying to find a cheap machine but one which she recommends and I’ll see what I can come up with. I know the hilleberg had a good base and the footprint isn’t essential so good idea to save some weight. Although…I’d have to think as do like to protect my tents just in case. I always make footprints out of window film for other tents so look forward to making my own with her kits 🤙🏼
@Olan...7 ай бұрын
Nice one Chris that will be a good investment. Just for the record i get them made with a 20cm flap that you can tuck under your inner tent. I wouldn't worry about Hilleberg footprints in the slightest, i am on number 6 Hilleberg and never had even the tiniest of holes ATB@@krisgleave

Hi kris. What were the filter bottles you have in this video?
@krisgleave7 ай бұрын
Hi Dave….the main filters are the Katadyn BeFree filters. The one in the video is the Tactical 1 Litre but they also do the clear in 0.6L and 1L and I have both of those too and great. The Tactical is a little thicker material. The 2L bag (also comes in various sizes) is the Hydrapack Seeker…just need to get the version where the top fits the Katadyn if you’re going for a similar setup.
